I feel obliged to right a review because we had a fantastic experience here last night and I wonder why the bad reviews We had a 8pm reservation and was seated right away- hard to find in New York . The waiters were attentive but didn't rush us at all. My husband and I were on a date, so I don't like to be rushed at dinner and they let us keep the table for like 4 hours and were sooo nice. Everyone! The food was delicious. Maybe since its a steak house, people who go should stick with steak. I didn't have the duck or salmon or anything, because they are known for steak. The filet was delicious and perfectly cooked- and a large portion- bigger than any steak house in manhattan- and cheaper. My husband had the bone in rib eye and it was amazing. Perfect crust. I don't eat a lot of meat, but it was so damn good! We had the Brussels sprouts and the mushroom side- both very good. Mushroom one is better :) They suggested a nice red wine and it was fabulous. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the bread pudding, but I knew I should have gotten the strawberry shortcake :) I would definitely go back. It's not cheap, but no steak house is !

I am an avid diner of Brooklyn's many wonderful restaurants, but unfortunately Benchmark proved to be a disappointment! The service was subpar and the food was mediocre. It began with my friend asking our server to tell her about the fish dishes on the menu as she was having difficulty seeing it in the cozy, but dim lighting. The server said, "Well maybe if you use the candle you will be able to see it better." My sister and friend ordered hot tea and the water was tepid. When we asked the server if she could bring hotter water, she told us that the water was hot because it came from the machine. Why not just say ok and bring back hot water that actually had visible steam and felt hot? As we sat, waiting we noticed that bread was being served. Every table save our table received a bread basket. Even after two requests, the bread took another 10 minutes to arrive. I then had to ask the server to bring bread plates and she asked if each person needed a plate, as opposed to just bringing three plates. For my meal, I ordered the short ribs appetizer and the tuna, both arrived cold. Not wanting to ask for anything else, I left half of the tuna, as it was unappetizing. The one thing that was great about the food was the bread pudding. The other positive is that it is an attractive looking restaurant, but neither of these things would ever make me go back.

Stopped by for dinner before the Striesand show at Barclays and was not disappointed. My date and I started with a cocktails, I had some type of barrel aged manhattan that was out of this world. from there we had scallops(awesome), lobster salad(amazing) and shared a 65 day dry aged wagyu ribeye that was on special. The steak was pricey, but it was hands-down, the best steak I have ever had!!! We split a bottle of wine from their immense list, got the check and headed over to Streisand. It was an awesome beginning to a great performance.

I went here with my wife after hearing some buzz about it in the neighborhood. We had high expectations which were bolstered when we walked in, as the place looked beautiful. Perfect lighting and a refined yet somehow rustic interior. We ordered the Pulled Duck Confit to start, and it was just miserable looking, with a taste to match. We even found a bone in it, but decided to troop on. We thought it was a fluke, because benchmark came highly recommended. For entrees we had the Duck Breast and Ahi Tuna. The Duck Breast was luke warm upon arrival and a bit chewy while the Ahi Tuna was certainly not fresh. To add insult to injury, midway through our dinner they placed a loud, boisterous family right next to us. I asked the maitre d' if we could change tables because of the severe annoyance next to us, and he claimed the other 4 open tables were reserved. Would definitely not go again. Overpriced food, slow service and unhelpful staff. Very disappointing.

Ordered the prix fixe menu here during Restaurant Week and was not impressed. The corn bisque soup was much too rich, and I'm not sure how to even begin describing the pool of brown sauce that came with my salmon entree. The flavor was off. I think the food here has potential, but needs some work.

It was a nice day and they opened their outdoor tables. The food was great. The pork chops was very delicious and tender. The fried chicken was lightly battered and the chicken breast was moist with flavor. Our waitress was friendly and quick. I would definitely go back.

We had crab cakes loaded with chili peppers. You could see the crab, you just couldn't taste it. We had the baked squash with so much hot pepper in it, it was not edible. Plenty of cheap greens, all fresh, strewn everywhere. The desserts were great. Wouldn't go again.
