I've lived in the neighbor for over a decade and finally a consistently good delicious indian restaurant. The saag panner is off the charts as well as the tikka masala sauce! I never visited the restaurant only take out which sometimes is slow but definitely worth the wait!

Of 3 entrees, all tasted like they'd had the same sauce dumped on them. The sauce had no hint of curry taste, or any other Indian spices--the best I can describe the taste is tomato and vinegar. The paratha was burned beyond eating and the waiter got very snarky when I asked for another. None of us could eat it, which was embarrassing for our host. The scallop appetizer and lemonade were quite good, however.

Reliable favorite, definitely the best curry in this area, east of Hell's Kitchen.

We had a delicious meal; everything was so fresh and flavorful. Very accommodating to a special request too.

Lunch buffet is a STEAL! For 12 bucks, you get WAY more food that is high quality than any other midtown restaurant of any kind that I know of. I've ordered DELIVERY twice, first time was not good at all, second time took over an hour and a half. Moral of the Story: EAT IN=Amazing Delivery=Lousy I've never seen a restaraunt with such a big difference between dining in and delivery, but there is a tremendous difference. Always eat in. Its awesome!

This “Bring out the Chefs for an applause” restaurant, serves an array of the most incredible Scallops, Tandoori Lamb, sautéed Lobster and spiced Chicken, with the amazing flavors -that are simply transcendent- of coconut, mangos, tomatoes and chutneys; [fabulous spices of curry, ginger and cumin] and cucumbers in yogurt, in the most exotic creamy sauces (vegetables included). Their “to-die-for” dessert is definitely the 'Gulab Jamun' (Honey Dumpling)! You are greeted and attended by their extremely gracious Manager, who is totally friendly, pleasing and well experienced in his fine selection of wonderfully delicious dishes to suit your palate. The decor is elegantly simple, and -no paying for 'power lunches or dinners'- but for inexpensively authentic but difficult to surpass Indian Cuisine.

Very good food & caring service! I went there on Monday for dinner, after having a very good experience with the food in excellent delivery & was impressed by the diversity in the menu. The Chicken Curry home style (recommended by the friendly Manager) was excellent, and so were the appetizers. Benares is definitely one my favourite places to eat now
