One of my favorite steakhouses
My husband and I have been many times and love it. We have not had a disappointing meal yet! Ben & Jack are often there to greet you and are always welcoming. The porterhouse is always cooked perfectly and the sides are delicious.

Wonderful Steak!!
Came in New Years Eve night with my boyfriend. Crowd was drunk and rowdy and quite annoying. I appreciated the waiter telling the large party behind us to leave. They who were standing around us and knocking into our chairs. The table next to us was extremely obnoxious and drunk as well, so the steak better have been worth it.....and it WAS!!!! We first ordered the shrimp cocktail and fresh oysters. Shrimp was jumbo and fresh and their cocktail sauce was very yummy. Oysters were ok, not bad, but not outstanding. We also had the Steak for Two with Creamed Spinach and German Potatoes. The steak came sizzling (of course) and even made my mouth water with just that sizzle noise and delicious smell! Our friendly waiter served it to us and when we put the steak in our mouth...OMG, it was absolute heaven! It was cooked perfectly to our specification (medium well) and extremely tender and juicy. The sides could have been better. Spinach was too salty and watery and didn't have much substance to it. The potatoes were flat out burnt. I was expecting the potatoes like Lugers, but it was not at all as golden and tender as Lugers. I still would recommend B&J's because their steak was just out of this world! Maybe their sides guy was having an off night or something. Didn't have any room for dessert, but they all sure looked great! Overall, the steak is definitely worth the trip!

One of the best in NYC!
I've been to Ben and Jack's many times with different groups of people. Everyone has loved it. The food and service are great! The only weak spot is the decor - It doesn't feel like a steakhouse - it's too stiff. I think it is one of best steak places in NYC.

Average Steak
Very bland steak, although the Ben and Jack's salad was very good. Friendly wait staff, although it did take a while to get re-fills on drinks. Their house steaksauce was very good, and I did like how they slice the steak for you. Atmosphere and interior is more fitting of an Italian restaurant than steakhouse in my opinion. Overall... just average.

To Joe W
You must have caught an off night. We eat here 2 - 3 times a week, and the food, especially the fish, is consistently outstanding. The Maitre D/owners are terrific and really appreciates their customers. I would give it another try.

Dissapointed in NY
I came to NY on Business and I was very disappointed. I was hoping to get Peter Luger quality without having to go to brooklyn. My seafood was overcooked and the steak lacked taste. Waiter was great but the Maitre D's were useless, it seems that everyone there is an owner, and they walk around in suits and only talk to the customers they know which were very few. I would think with two Maitre D's at least one might have come over to my table (8) business people, but they never did. Not recommended.

Always reliable
My favorite steak house in the neighborhood, best steaks and lump crabmeat. The service is impeccable and friendly staff. I recommended this place to all my friends and they all are happy with their meals.
