I would not have gone. We were seated quickly enough. Although I can not say we were served in the same manner. We had to hail our wiater in order to get our drinks and then waited quite awhile to actually have them served. My husband ordered a salad that he never saw. He reminded the waiter of this and still never got it! Someone else had ordered a Shrimp Cocktail and reminded the waiter when we were being served our steaks that they had yet to see that. The waiter promptly responded that he was not going to serve this while we were getting our steaks since it would ruin the flavor of the steaks.... Hmm, can anyone say srf and turf? I ordered a Rib Eye medium rare and got it just under well done, which I may have been okay with if they had not managed to cut all visible signs of the fat off. If I wanted a cut off beef that did not have fat I would have asked for a Filet Mignon. By the time I was able to bring it to the waiters attention we were so far into dinner I told him I did not want another steak. The thing I found most odd is the waiter felt compelled to bring our order he had written down to me to point out he had written down as medium rare, in which I told him if he was an attentive waiter he would have ensured it was cooked the way I had asked before it was brought to the table. It was very loud, to the point people seated in the middle of the table had to relay the conversation to the people seated on the ends of the table. I think the best part of this whole evening is that when we were walking from the room we were seated in to leave we were forced to circumnavigate the interior of the restaurant because employees were blocking any direct path out. Last week was our second time at Ben and Jack and again we had great time. For appetizer we got their "seafood platter" which was very good. We had few "steaks for two" it was excellent, the sides were amazing, we had creamed spinach, German potato, mushrooms and asparagus. The service was great everything was on time and we were not rushed at all. Their wine list is excellent, all well known wines. Great place ,definitely going back....

Nice atmosphere, food is good, service was good (but sneaky). But watch the fake drinks! If I had not seen it myself I would not believe it; very disappointing! I was sitting within twelve feet of the minibar at a table for two. We usually save for this type of outing. We ordered Grey Goose and soda with lime for dinner drinks. They poured a substitute lower class vodka and billed me for Grey Goose. I actually saw them pour another vodka in place of the GG and watched for the bill wondering if they did not have GG, no the bill clearly said GG. The waiter however, ran as blocker so my date could not see. But I told her about it and she said this sometimes happens. However, for a place thet presents itself like they do, I would never have though it happened here... While the food was good and the atmosphere is nice, I cannot patron a place that fakes a drink order and falsely bills me. Other than this small incident I have no problem with the place. Again, if I did not see it for myself, I would not have believed it...

I wish I would have read the previous review prior to choosing Ben & Jack's. This place is a major disappointment considering it is a Peter Lugar's spin-off. I have been to the other Peter Lugar's spin-offs in Manhattan and they truly give Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn a run for its money. First of all, the restaurant clientele was mostly tourists. My date and I ordered the steak for two which was mediocre at best. We ordered the German Potatoes which is usually beyond amazing at Lugar's and the other Lugar spin-offs. The potatoes not brought out with our steak and when they were brought out, they were black and completely burnt! When we sent them back, they were replaced by a plate of 99% sauteed onions and there were no potatoes on the plate. When we sent these back, one of the managers advised us to order these without onions in the future. I advised him that we ordered potatoes (which we know includes onions), NOT 99% sauteed onions. They brought us another German potatoes which were a bit better (in terms of potato content), but they were still slightly burnt. Will not return.

I have been to pretty much every steakhouse in NYC and did not like this one. I was not happy with the steak or service.

I have been to them all, when its all about the food and not the environment, Ben & Jack's is consistently outstanding. Excellent Steak of course, as well as fresh seafood. Its Wolfgang's without the hassle, or the attitude.....My favorite destination when its all about the food!! And of course, the BACON is a must try!!

i have gotten tired of lugers. Yes it is possible. I know i must be crazy, but if you want great steak with better service and better atmosphere then ben's is the place. Try the german potatoes and rib eye for one is bigger than steak for two!!! enjoy and have a good port with desert, oh yeak they take cards
