They will kick you out...
Although the steak seemed to be of high quality, its temperature was very inconsistent. They tend to undercook and at times overcook the steaks. In both of my visits there (yes I gave them a second chance) they never got the "Medium" right. The men in suits at the front desk, who, as I'm told, happen to be the owners for the most part, are rude and barely speak english. The service was very pushy. Not only did the waiter try to oversell on all of the accounts, from drinks and wine to desert, but was very anxious to get us out. Overall it was one of the worst experiences I have had recently. Bottom line, if you are looking for a place to impress your clients, this is not it.

The best in manhattan!
Easily the best steak in manhattan, always perfect porterhouse! Menu modeled after peter luger, and a perfect adaptation if you ask me. Lugers is always great, but to save yourself the trip to brooklyn and the attitude thay have about being the best for so long, just go to Ben and Jacks! And if you go for lunch on a weekday you can usually get in without a reservation...which beats the 2-4 week advance needed for lugers! Plus the cottage fries and onion rings combo is better than any of luger's potato and onion sides...and stays delightfully crunchy even after a night in the fridge. This Place Rules!

I'll go back.......
My office had a party at Ben and Jack's last week and we had a good time. Food was excellent, steak came on the table sizzling perfectly done "medium rare" as I like it...they had different options of the appetizers which was good as well. They had excellent wine selections, all well know wines. Service was very good, everything was done properly and on time...definitely will go back with friends...

Pushy service.. wouldn't recommend
I've been to a lot of steakhouses around the city and thought I'd try Ben and Jack's. I brought my family here and was disappointed that I did. The waiter hovered around our table, constantly pestering us and asking, "Are you ready to order yet?" Our food came out on top of each other, none of the waiters knew what we ordered and the whole meal felt so rushed. They tried to push wine and more expensive meals on us. The fries were still cold. Those who got steak thought it was good, but for what we paid, I was disappointed and would definitely never go back. Had the service not been so "salesman-like," the experience wouldn't have been so bad. Don't waste your money.

Not worth the trip
I went here for dinner with my family and was not impressed. Our waiter hovered around our table and was constantly asking us when we wanted to order and the service felt extremely rushed. None of the waiters knew who ordered what and kept coming over with food and we all had to tell them who ordered what. Those who got steak thought it was good, but my fish was mediocre and the side items were just average. This place was extremely pricey and for what we paid, it was not worth it and I would not go back here.

One of my favorite's
Was their this past Friday, and all I can say is that you will not/should not be disappointed. One of the best steak houses in NYC, and I've been to mostly all of them. The wait staff is very friendly and it's a fun place. The location is great as well.

Too expensive
Husband and I ate here on October 1st 2007. Yes, we were very tired having just arrived in the city after a long flight, but found atmosphere lacking and the prices in this restaurant very expensive for what you get. Our steaks were faultless, beautifully flavoured, but at around $38 each, and then nearly $10 EACH for fries, (about 10 fries for that $10!!!) - sorry - not worth it. Our bill came to $154 for steak, fries and a bottle of wine. We were too tired for coffee and dessert. Even the lighting in this place is cold and uninviting. Our waiter was lovely though, very attentive, and the food was served promptly and with great aplomb. Won't be going back.
