Ben and Jack's Steakhouse has the best steak hands down! I have never written a food review before, but having been to many and almost all steakhouses in the city, I had to give B&J's a thumbs up. My boyfriend wanted to take me away on the same weekend we had plans to tentatively eat at B&J's, and I chose B&J's (being the traveler that I am). The steak is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The atmosphere is old-world style. Don't miss it....even better....try to get a private room if you can.

Eating here on a weekday is recommended because the weekends are just too busy. get the seafood platter, skip the salad, then dive into the porterhouse for two...for one if you can.they have this exquisite house steak sauce..tangy. I usually don't use any additonal sauce, but it was really good. minor details...when this palce does get busy, staff may be a tad forgetful.

The first time I went at Ben and Jack's was last week with our boss for a business meeting. We had wonderful time. The food was great and the service was very good. I have been in all well know steak houses in the city, including Lugar, and I believe that Ben and Jack's is the best place to have a business meetings. They have those private rooms which are perfect meetings. Tonight I sent my wife for a dinner and she loved it as well. She even said that the steak was as good as Luger's if not better. From now on Ben and Jack?s would be my place to have a steak. I just love it...

The food was very similar to Peter Luger?s, the atmosphere was boring at best, to quote the New York times article ?it is a shame that Ben & Jack's strives to duplicate Luger?s instead of trying to be better? , there is no need to visit this Lugar imitation, if you want my advice spend the extra 10 dollars and take a taxi to Brooklyn to eat at the original. The one positive point is that the wait staff goes out of there way to separate themselves from the Lugar?s stereotype.

I have been three times in Ben & Jack's so far, I just can't wait to go again this weekend with my friend who is celebrating his birthday. Food is just superb, I feel I never eat better porterhouse in my life and atmosphere is equally great. You have an option of several private rooms, back room seating if you want romantic diner or important business meeting and you don't have to scream to communicate with people on your table as we do when we go in many restaurants. Now I feel Lugar's is really to far for me!

I went to Ben and Jack's to check out their steak and I was surprised to find out they had 6 private rooms, the steak was great along with everything else we had, the service was great! ... I dropped my napkin and before i could pick it up off the floor a waiter was there with a new one in hand. This is my place for steak, hopefully it stays the same for many years, and for the next company meeting .....we will be taking one of the private rooms.

With this delicious new steakhouse on 44th (best porterhouse) and Sparks 2 blocks over (46th...best sirloin), I see no reason to go to Luger's at all. Ben and Jack's has superb food, great service and a nice atmosphere...Bravo.
