Great Atmosphere and Staff
Overall a great atmosphere, with a great staff that is very attentive. You definitely get what you pay for, the steak and service is excellent. I have been to many steakhouses such as Peter Lugers, Wolfgang, and Sparks and I think that Ben and Jacks has one of the best steaks I've ever tried. The manager is very friendly, and does a great job making sure that staff is attentive and service is top-notch. My personal favorite is the rib-eye steak for two. I was very surprised at how good the food and service was from this not-so-big name steakhouse.

Great steak - service ok
Had the fixed price daily menue - good value (soup/salat, steak, dessert, coffee $ 50) . Steak was perfect, as well as the side orders. However, it was too much. Service was good but not outstanding. We had dinner on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was nearly empty. Even we were only a party of two gratuity was added to the check without letting us know - not a fair method treating guests - even they are tourists. This was a little bit annoying as NYC residents told us, that this behaviour is not OK.

Disappointing
Based on the reviews I read, I decided to take my brother here for a special milestone birthday. It was a huge disappointment. The wait staff was incredibly rude, the manager was incompetent and the food was nothing special and very over-salted.

Great expectations
Having been at most of the other major steakhouses in town, I was disappointed. My date and I had the porterhouse for two- mine rare, hers medium rare. I should have said "bloody". It was pretty forgettable- the major space on the meat was salt. The German potatoes were so overcooked and crunchy that I thought I was going to break a tooth. I did send it back and got a much more acceptable dish. The creamed spinach was very good. The staff is attentive and efficient. The atmosphere and decor can use a makeover. Be advised, this ain't Peter Luger, Wolfgang's, Sparks, etc. or even the Palm. I've had much better steaks everywhere but here.

If you like steak, this is the place!
Attended as a party of 4 on 5-Feb-2011. Atmosphere was good, service was good and food was great BUT.... serves were enormous. We ordered the rib-eye and it came out looking like something from the Flinstones. Delicious but too much. Very tender, tasty and service was good.

Best steak I've ever had!
LOVED the prime rib. Nice sear on the outside. Huge portions. As for appetizers, pass on the calamari, but you must try the Canadian sizzling bacon!!! (And I usually don't even like bacon.) German potatoes were deelish, as well. Service was terrific. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating. I'll be back for sure.
