I had walked by this place several times and decided to try it with a friend. I can say I will never go back. The menu left something to be desired, the food was mediocre at best. And the service was the worst. We were never checked on to see how our meal was, we had to ask several times to have our water refilled. And when the server came over to clear our plates she just started removing them without asking if we were finished or if we minded - very rude. Lastly, we sat for a while with a cleared table and were never offered dessert. Finally we just asked for the check. We walked out with out being acknowledged - just how the rest of the dinner had gone.

Went to Bello's once and loved it. Second time food was cold. Decided to give it one more try. Chef or waitress got the orders mixed up, even though there were only 2 tables. Had to wait to fix the order and the correct order got cold. Three strikes and you're out.

Dining at Bello's (or "Patty's", as it's called by the locals) is a true find! We happened by the restaurant on a visit to New York - I felt as if I had stumbled into one of my relatives' house (I'm Italian)!!!! The food is just like home, the atmosphere is just like home, and Patty - well, he's just like home! While enjoying our yummy pasta, Patty made us laugh till we cried with his stories... service was wonderful! If you want to experience a true Italian restaurant that is a real slice of New York, this is the place to be.

We have been here a few times. Excellent Italian food. Very good wine. The service is great The prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is terrific. The owner is a charm and makes you feel right at home. They play great music (sinatra, dino, etc.) If you want a fun but laid back dining experience in the east village, you should give this place a try!!!

Salad was drenched in dressing. After a too long wait, food came out cold and then nuked to heat up. Waiting for the waitress to order coffee & dessert, the bill was plunked down.

This place is a gem. We walked in off the street and were taken with it immediately. Patty, the owner, gives a warm welcome to all comers. As you sit in this cozy little Italian "home", you are entertained by the characters walking in and out to say hello to Patty, as well as the Sinatra music and charming waitress. Our gang have become regulars here and we are amazed at the value of the food and wine for the price. This place definitely deserves a try - especially the stuffed egglplant appetizer and the Veal Piazziola, which they will make special for you. You know you've made a friend if Patty brings you his special cheesecake dessert on the house.

This place as done a 180 degree turnaround since reopening earlier this year. The food is phenomenal (home made raviolis), the atmosphere is very warm, and patty makes you feel at home as he sits with you and tells you stories about growing up the village. Best bang for your buck in the city.
