Dinner was a mixed bag. Green and Caesar salads were excellent, Veal (my wife had scallopini and I had marsala) was tender and generous. The veal marsala was overly tart and had no hint of marsala flavor. Entrees come with a side of pasta. These are served in small bowls. The first bite presented hard and dried-out pasta; below it was overdone, mushy pasta in a very tasty sauce. Apparently, these pasta sides are prepared in advance and refrigerated, then heated up before serving. This results in a dried-out top and a soggy bottom. This is efficient for the restaurant but at these prices, the customer deserves better. The check was presented while we were still eating and before we had requested it. Two people picked it up while we were finishing and we had to explain that we were not finished and had not yet paid. We ordered espresso, which arrived lukewarm. The waiter said he would be back with sugar but never returned. We had to request sugar twice and by the time it arrived, the espresso was at room temperature. This was a pleasant place and reminded us of old "Village" restaurants (we had lived in the "Village" for over 35 years before moving to the UWS). The garden is attractive and very pleasant but because it is surrounded by brick walls the sound level was very high. (A couple who arrived and was seated after us left before ordering, complaining about the high noise level.) In general, the overall atmosphere is business-like pushy rather than gracious Italian (and one has the right to expect a certain amount of graciousness based on the price level of the restaurant.)

From the minute you walk in the door, you are made to feel at home in this cozy Italian restaurant that offers a beautiful backyard garden and comfortable indoor seating. Try the award winning meatballs to start. All the dishes are great and the staff is professional and knowledgable. The owner Nick will make sure your needs are met and is happy to make everyone feel like a welcome guest. I recommend this place to everyone!

I've ordered from this place a lot recently, and I think it's the best "like home" Italian on the upper west. And it's same every single time. I've ordered the Veal Parm 5 times and it's good every time. That matters. If you tip the delivery guy 5 bucks, it will always be there in 30 mins also.

This is a lovely neighborhood place. The restaurant is beautiful and in good weather the garden in back is wonderful. Good standard Italian food, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken francaise, all fresh and tasty. Very reasonably priced, particularly for the area. My husband and I were delighted and will make it one of our standard spots.

I LOVE food! Especially Linguini con Vongole & I admit I'm a bit of a clam snob. I literally sat there & watched them deliver my clams direct from the boat on LI to my plate - Deee-lish! Very Friendly, Megan, the bartender is just the best. These folks care about what they put on your plate & whether you enjoy it or not.....just like Mom's - good, solid home cooking. Dont forget- no credit cards.

A very good go to - both in the restaurant and delivery
