Great Place
I had dinner at Belleville a couple of weeks ago with the husband and another couple. It was a beautiful night so we were able to sit outside. I had the salmon and was able to sub brocolli rabe for mashed potatoes. My husband had the vegetarian plate and our friends had the scallops. We all enjoyed our food. The service was very good, the presentation was also very good and the setting was lovely. I think this restaurant has gotten a bum rap in the past but I want to let people know they should give Belleville another chance. I also had brunch here a few weeks ago and it was also a very tasty presentation at a very fair price.

Rue 5
What a great dinner we had there. The food was surprisingly great, our service was impeccable and our waiter was very knowledgeable and best of all, it was super cheap! Belleville is a little bit of a hike for us from Manhattan, but I'd say it's worth it.

Decent French bistro
Went there for dinner with another couple. The service was a bit slow and an absent-minded waiter seemed to constantly forget about us (the palce was half empty). I am a big fan of French cuisine and thought the atmosphere was exactly what a typical French bistro atmosphere should be. The food was of good quality but I wouldn’t say I was impressed. I would like to come back for brunch.

Belleville Shmelleville!
Everything here has changed. Belleville used to be one of my favorite brunch places in the slope. Unfortunately, they no longer have a license for hard alcohol so only beer and wine. To start I was disappointed that there were no bloody marys, I was willing to not give up entirely on this restaurant until I realized they gave up on their food. The eggs florentine USED to come with melty gruyere, now no gruyere! No booze, no cheese, NO THANKS!

Glad I went back
Went here right when I moved to park slope, and the brunch was pretty subpar. After dismissing this place for over a year, went back last night and it was terrific. I've spent plenty of time in Paris hopping around random streets and ducking into random restaurants and this was up there with some of the better brasserie-types that I've found. Yes, I had to send the soup back because it wasn't hot enough, but when it came back piping hot, it was absolutely terrific. The Coq au Vin (chicken referenced by "So Sad") was not dry at all, it was moist and the dish was perfect. Definitely a good "where should we go" place in the slope. You won't be disappointed.

Great
I don't know how it was before the new ownership (which took over in fall 2008), but we had a delicious dinner last night. A fantastic 5 course tasting menu, nice presentation, tasty food, delicious braised short ribs, friendly staff... that started with a kir royal and crunchy baguette. And the finale of a banana tarte tatin ... I recommend it highly. And they are kid friendly (as long as the kids are well behaved), which is even better.

So sad
I have eaten here a couple of times and each time was a disappointment. Frisee lardon salad came with hard boiled egg, soup was good but not warm, wine was small by the glass and expensive, chicken was dry and could have been used to be cut (it came as a whole half) Scallops were okay... and no liquor license (only wine and beer) all in all spending over $150 on three people left me feeling as though I could have spent that $$ better elsewhere!
