I love Becco on Restaurant Row, had dinner there Saturday night, always great value wines, good food and a bustling busy atmosphere I couldn't resist the three pasta special while my husband had the Osso Buco. We didn't stay for dessert this time but headed accross the street to a New Orleans restaurant just opened for dessert and a nightcap.

Our past 3 times here were excellent, the 4th was exceptional. We brought another couple with us for the experience and they too were amazed. From beginning to end it was run like a well oiled machine. The place was packed and the staff was still very attentive to our needs. The food was superb and everything came out piping hot.We told the waiter that we were not going to the theater and no need to rush us. He obliged and we had a leisurely enjoyable dinner. Althougth it was very crowded and noisy it was all part of the New York experience. On this trip,we passed on the pasta sampler ,and instead tried the veal shank osso bucco, rack of lamb, and the calves liver w/carmelized onions over crispy polenta . Which we highly recommend. We ended with the dessert sampler which was wonderful. Don't miss this restaurant on your next trip to NYC. DG from Valhalla

I did to go this restaurant because I am a fan of Lidia. I'm glad I did, because it was excellent. The 3 pasta lunch special was absolutely delicious. The Swiss Chard ravioli's were to die for. The seafood appetizer that is included in the 3 pasta lunch special was 2 plates of appetizers. I couldn't believe it was for 1 person and all for the price of $17.95. I would definitely go back! No real complaints-the portions are generous, and the food was perfectly good, but frankly nothing special-if this place was 10 bucks less per plate, I would have given if 5 stars. I am perfectly happy to pay a lot of money for extraordinary food, but this food was not extraordinary, and i was rather dismayed when I got my $100 check for two people.

This review is in reply to the bad review on 1/31/08. I truly don't believe this is a real review since it is just bashing the place without any detail of the visit and/or meal. I've been to Becco's several times and the food is great. The place is always packed which is a sure sign that it is well liked. The flavors of the food might be surprising in its originality but you will be saying "Wow, this is good" at some point of your meal.

The so called "celebrity chef" connection to this place seems to be the only reason anyone may want to go here. Trust me, it ain't enough. The all you can eat dinner special for large groups is just a large pile of poor quality everything. Over cooked food, blandly spiced and slowly served by a staff only eager to make sure your tip is included. I'm a native New Yorker, and I'd honestly rather go to one of the tourist spots instead.

I spent my last two birthdays here and enjoyed every single bite. This is perfect home cooking italian. The bolognese and the lasagna are the best I've ever had. You can tell they use the best ingredients because even the simplest things are delicious! The all you can eat pasta is an unbeatable deal and if you are with a group ask about the "abodanza" style meal. There is also large $25 wine list with a wide [select]ion of both red and white. Don't let it's restaurant row location get you down New Yorkers! This place ROCKS!
