I just want to agree
With the review below that says Small Portions, Full-Sized Prices, and Tasty Food. That's the absolute truth. I wish the portions would grow... just a little because right now they always leave me hungry. So, I decided to get the graham cracker marshmallow dessert and well given that its comprised of like 5 crackers and a few marshmallows - I didn't feel much fuller. I love this place, but it really needs to work its portions.

Continuously great time
As always, I just had a wonderful meal at Beast. There was a wait but i was kept informed and, as an employee of the industry myself, I was well aware that they were busy and doing the best they could. One of my favorites is the changing quartinos of wine they offer. Always interesting selections and ALWAYS delicious. The kitchen is so tiny but they manage to pump food out at a pretty quick pace. It took a few minutes to get our delectable food but i could see the two chefs really moving in there. Kind of amazing. I recommend sitting in the front room to watch the kitchen staff on a busy night. Must haves: skirt steak, ribs, scallops, calamari. As for drink sizes and pricing... I've never seen a 4oz drink anywhere...especially there. Beers are $5-$7, I had a Ketel marinti tonight and it was $11. I think thats the usual price, if not good for the size i got. I actually think some of it spilled on the way to the table too. To each their own i guess. Its one of MY faves though. Rock on Beast!

Tasty Food, Small Portions, Overpriced
I know, I know, they lectured us all about the "tapas" nature of the dishes. Well, they may be tapas-sized but they're definitely full-sized-entree priced. The bill got awfully pricey awfully fast. That said, the food itself what there was of it was actually quite delicious.

very happy
I was unsure about Beast based on it's reviews but had a gift certificate to use. Very pleasantly surprised! I am a cook and rarely eat out due to the fact that I feel that the service and food quality in NYC restaurants has declined. Most servers don't make the effort that they used to and I often feel I could have cooked a better meal for a portion of the price. Not so with Beast! The food and wine were terrific. Out of all the dishes I sampled, I wasn't disappointed with any one. Standouts: the scallops (to die for), ricotta tart, polenta and the Tempranillo wine. The dessert was also fantastic. The workers were very nice without being fake which I like. Lastly, I love the fact that I could get beautiful food at a laid back, cool place that wasn't stuffy. Can't wait to go back.

Cold... Slow... Huh?
Ate at Beast recently. Waitress did apologize for 15 minutes wait without being acknowledged. Food came cold, with exception of duck which was good. Dining room was extremely warm, thankfully, one refill of water came at the most opportune moment. Would be wary about eating at again, but would go to drink at bar.

be prepared to wait
So, the food is very good, but definitely not worth the 45 minute plus wait I've had to endure on each visit. The first time it was for a late lunch at 3pm, and we ordered in the empty restaurant quickly, but had to wait for about 45 minutes for our food while the chef seemed to be going in slow motion. I chalked it up to the strange time, but when I returned for brunch one Sunday we told our waitress we were in a hurry and she only managed to bring us our food after 40 minutes. Shaving off five minutes, gee, how nice. Just don't go here hungry.

Almost Perfect but ultimately Beastly
We absolutely love the ambiance, menu, and glorious creations and flavors, but a few big no nos. Service is not up to par. Hipster service is only cool when its super fast and when you don't have any other choices. Also, don't charge blue ribbon prices on oysters and give us a smaller portion. Finally $10 per a 4 ounce apple martini poured in a scratch up classic tumber? Management should keep an eye out on these details, to make sure this gem continues to shine.
