What happened to this place?
I've been to Beast a number of times; and although I have always thought the food and drinks were overpriced, I generally enjoyed my meal. This past visit, though, was poor from beginning to end. I ordered the scallops--one of their signature dishes--and the fish was grey and seemed to have been frozen and then thawed. The calamari was just ok, as was a large salad with mozzarella. My date and I each had two small drinks, and the bill for two large tapas, one salad, and four drinks was more than $110. The cost of the salad--some lettuce, tomatoes, and mozzarella--was $14, an outrageous price.

Good food/poor service
My wife and I recently went here with her parents are were disappointed in the service. We had been here the prior week and absolutely loved the food. The first night (on a tuesday) the service was normal. The second trip here, the service was poor. we were seated in the back room and, literally, we did not see any waitress, not just ours, for about 30 minutes. Finally, I got up and got myself a beer at the bar. That didn't even get our waitresses attention. Finally, she swung by and asked if we wanted dessert. Sadly, we only had apps.

Not great!
The food was barely worth the wait, and the price. Their tapas concept is just an excuse to charge a lot for a small plate of food. The service was poor. While taking our order the waitress explained that we would get our food according to what the chef decided to make first. So we basically waited forever for our food, only to recieve it in the most random order. Definitely not coming back.

What has happened?
This place used to be my favorite local place to hang out at the bar and have a beer and burger...... Not sure what has happened but the service is just weird. I have come in twice lately and the atmosphere was so odd we left. No one wants their grungy bartender's underwear and navel hanging out while they serve you beer.

As others said- tastes good, way too small portions, and overpriced
As others said- my brother and I went there tonight and looked at the menu- food sounded tasty and the prices sounded reasonable. We both wanted the scallops, and the bar tender (we were eating at the bar) told us that this place is a 'tapas' bar, so the portions will be small and most people share. That was not indicated anywhere and we had already ordered beers, or we probably would have left. I could tell we were in for a rip off. We got one order of the scallops- which tasted very good but were absolutely tiny for $13 dollars- 4 scallops and some squash puree. We got the burger and added cheese for 2 dollars- the amount of cheese for that two dollars was outrageously small. The burger also tasted great and was more or less decent sized (10 oz.), but for $14 dollars you could throw in some fries. We got the humus plate appetizer at the guy's suggestion that it would be filling. It was fine. All told we spend $53 including tip on a meal that should have been about $30. beef up the portions to normal entree size, or cut the prices to normal tapas price. you can't have it both ways. good tasting food and good quality, but a rip off and tiny portions.

Tasty but Overpriced!
I'll echo the reviewer below: food is definitely good, but it's not clear from the menu that you're getting tapas, so what actually came on the plate was a bit of a surprise considering the prices. To add to the confusion, some of the meals are actually full-sized entrees (e.g. the burger). But everything was really yummy (even though I left hungry) and service was equally as good. So I guess I kinda recommend it...?

Short Ribs are fantastic!
Cook in beer and wine and some incredible secret? We ordered a second order they were irresistable! It was a bar atomoshere with nice service the waitress was very good. The rest of the Tapas were slightly above average but worth a try.
