    A Nice Sunday in NYC

First time there.Had a coupon.Had a reservation.Arrived on time and was seated right away.Waiter was very good.Food that came was very good.My steak seemed to be a lot smaller then those that ordered without a coupon. My wifes food was very good. Portion was same as others.Plenty to drink.Breads on table was also very good.Except for the value it was a very nice place to spend some time. There was no rush for us to leave and there were people waiting to be seated.

    Spot On

My wife and I do brunch every weekend in the city. I will make this short. When you find a place that is spot on you have to say so. From the front of the house to the kitchen everything was perfect. Would highly recommend. Straight from a happy customer and NYC foodie.

    Disappointing and misleading

My wife, friend and I ate at the Beacon once before and had high hopes. The prior time was restaurant week and our meal and service were excellent. Tonight, was a different outcome. Service was adequate if perfunctory. Our drink order was mixed up and our main dish order was also mixed up. Ok, one mixup but two, and in a 'fine' restaurant like this? But the real disappointment was in the dish, billed and charged as a main dish, the sweetbreads. The dish is labeled, Roast Crisp Sweetbread. It arrived, the size of a small appetizer for $27 main course, listed as a main course item, and tepid. No one came over to ask how our meals were, something done in the lowliest coffee shop. No bread was offered after the first serving. We complained later; the server was cordial and brought the manager over. We stated our complaints. The manager listened, acted concerned and did not 'know' that this was a main dish and acted surprised. We can understand mistakes but misleading menus, prices and portion sizes are not mistakes. We were offered dessert, which we did not accept because we just wanted to get out of there. We felt written off but in the most genteel sort of way. We won't be returning

Solo Dining at the Bar turned out OK

Was meeting a friend for a show after work and decided to eat here beforehand. Sat alone at the bar and had great service. The bartenders made sure I had something to drink and kept checking on me. Had the scallops and olives. They even gave me some bar snacks which were delicious. The price was more than I would normally spend but that's because the scallops were pricey. It was my choice though - the price was clear on the menu and I choose it! There were 4 to the order and each came on an artichoke leaf with this cool green sauce. Drizzled on top and on the sides was a very spicy red sauce with nuts. The mix of the cool and hot flavors with the scallops was beautiful. Overall i thougth the food was good, service was great. And the Kentucky Pear was the perfect drink.

Three words best describe our experience...

Three words best describe our experience: Fabulous, Exemplary and Memorable! The ambience is an amazing example of Art Deco, the service was unbelievable and the food, well, suffice it to say if this was my last meal (hopefully not) I'd be eternally grateful we'd chosen The Beacon. As Arnold so aptly put: We'll be back and with friends... Thank you for a wonderful evening!

eh, okay if your middle aged and boring

The atmosphere was okay, it was very ordinary. Everything about the place was ordinary. My boyfriend and I got a pitcher of sangria, and it was the most watered down thing I have ever drank. I got the tuna burger and he got the regular burger. It was okay, not terrible, but nothing to come back for. The fries were awful. The service wad great however

    Sunday Supper was Terriffic!

I made reservations for a party of 14 Sunday. The restaurant is laid out in a chic, yet understated way. Service was accommodating and attentive. The food was a visual delight and scrumptuous. We took advantage of the BYOB option and the waiters made sure our wine glasses were never empty! The hostess accommodated the special requests for the group with graciousness and with great attention to detail. I will definitely come again and recommend Beacon to my friends!
