    scrumtous buffet

I just love Bay Leaf's buffet. Whenever I am anywhere in the neighborhood, I stop by for the fabulous buffet. Every selection is scrumptious, including the dessert. There is a wide variety, including tandoori chicken, cabbage, another vegetable dish, a lamb and fish dish and nan bread. There is also four different dipping sauces. Go go go!

    Unpleasant

The service was rude and dismissive. The waiter was manipulative and unattentive. The food was barely paletable.

    deceitful menu, argumentive server

We decided to go here on Saturday evening for a nice dinner with my husband and parents. I had asked the server which dishes he could make for my parents with the limitations of what they eat and don't, he seemed annoyed from the beginning to even check with the chef about can be made. Then the food is not tasty at all, it's sort sweet. My husband ordered Jeera rice for the whole table and we end up getting rice with onions in it. While we are ordering the server doesn't mention their Jeera rice has onions in it b/c my husband ordered it and he thought that my husband would be the ONLY one to eat rice, come on now. I've been to soooo many indian restaurants, even in India, NO ONE serves Jeera rice with onions. So instead of just replacing the rice or offering another order, he first argues with us that we ordered it and we should have known and they can't list everything on the menu that's in the meal, yet they can list onions in other sections...come on now, i shouldn't have to argue with a server about getting some freakin rice....definately would not go back here and would not recommend it to anyone either.

    Never again!

I ordered delivery from here last week. Disappointing experience. Delivery time was over 1 hour and I live 1 block away. The food was cold as a result. Their dishes lack flavor, except for an unusual sweet flavor. Prices are high compared to nearby competition. Did not see any additional value due to the poor service and small portions. Will never go here again and would never recommend it to others.

    a great experience

The perfect choice if you are in the City Center vicinity and like good to great Indian food. It's just a tad more expensive than other "Indian" restaurants, but the quality of food is so far above the average as to more than justify the slight added expense. The fish was fresh, the seasoning was knowledgable (spicy but not incendiary) and the hostesses' recommendations were right on the mark. The secret bargain is the "Tali" which is in reality a complete and delicious meal including appetizer and dessert, disguised as an entree. You can pick a vegetarian or nonvegetarian Tali, the vegetarian one is highly recommended. Each of the multitude of dishes in the Tali comes in a little cup-sized portion, so the meal works for big eaters and portion controllers alike. The price for a glass of wine is a bit high (seems to be subsidizing the food, much of which is exquisite), but they pour a very full glass that two could split.
