Love this place - highly recommend
Since I discovered Basta Pasta, I have been there at least once a month. Every single pasta dish I have tried have been fantastic. The portions are smaller, but its because Americans are use to larger portions which isn't good for your health anyways. If you get appetizer and dessert as well, it is just right. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service is impeccable. The waitstaff is extremely polite, as is the Japanese custom. The overall atmosphere is nice and relaxing, not a bit of pretentiousness as you get at some nicer restaurants. Love the open kitchen style. The desserts were all delicious as well. I've brought my out of town friends here and all have loved it just as much as me. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city - reasonable prices for the quality of the food, great value! If you haven't been, you must try! I'm a bit puzzled at the negative reviews as I have been there so many times now and have always had great experience.

this place was worthy of a trip!
This place was pretty cool. The decor was the first surprise, a well spaced and decorated room made for a pleasant atmosphere. All the pastas were reasonably priced, and I definitely like that you can order app sizes of the pasta. We tried 5 different ones, probably the Urchin and Basil being among favorites. Also the silk hankerchief with mushrooms and ricotta was excellent. The Spgh. from the cheese wheel was okay, too al dente for my taste. The only real let down though was the volcanic Choc cake, it was dry and not gooey at all. You probably need an app of something and a pasta entree to feel well satisfied, but we did that and left quite full. I reccommend Basta Pasta!

and now for something different...
You have to be a bit adventurous even to consider an Italian-Japanese fusion, but I'm Italian, and I like Japanese creations, so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed. The spaghetti with sea urchin sauce were delicious, and with a friend we tried different appetizers, all inventive, all good. And the pasta was really al dente.

BADsta Pasta
There is a reason why Japanese food and Italian food are two separate cuisines - they simply do not go together. Just a very weird combination of foods on the menu and the food was adequate at best. NOTE to readers - might want to eat a snack before you come because the portions are tiny - will leave hungry.... Thankfully, I was in good company and we could all laugh about how awful the experience was afterwards.

Yummy Yummy Yummy!
I went to this restaurant last night and was not sure what to expect. It was absolutely delicious, I recommend this place definitely. Italian food done by Japanes chefs, amazing taste, presentation and portions were great.

Delicious...but has gotten packed
An italian/japanese fusion restuarant with about 30 seats. It is now hard to walk in and get a seat. The pasta is light. They also do take out.
