a bit of heaven
I am new to the neighborhood, stopped in the other day and had a delicious meal. The staff are friendly, attentive but not intrusive. My only regret is that I was not with a large group (there was one close to me that were having a great time) because I want to try everything! The food is fantastic, the prices are great, and at 6'5" and 300 pounds I could barely finish my meal. Go for it if you are in Hell's Kitchen!

Half-off lunch special on weekends!
I don't know if it was just today or if this is always the case, but I went to Basera today and instead of the buffet, they had everything on the menu for half off. This actually worked in our favor -- since buffets usually only have 3-4 veg dishes anyway, the three of us got one entree each (baingan bharta, paneer makhni, and veg biryani) plus an order of naan, and shared it. We asked for it spicy, which we obviously wouldn't have been able to do in a buffet (Indian buffets sometimes cater to a milder palette) and the outcome was deliciousness. The waiters were super friendly - we even broke a dish when we first got there but they were totally cool about it, and continued to be warm and attentive throughout. At the end, we only ordered one dessert for the 3 of us (since we were all pretty stuffed) and he brought out 2 extra desserts, on the house. I was surprised that at 1pm on a Sunday, the place was fairly empty. I hope people give this place a try -- for great food, service, and ambiance, you just can't beat it!

Making Indian food taste good
A friend of mine had only had Indian food once and refused to try it again. I asked for him to give Indian food one more chance. I scoured reviews and settled on Basera. It was 1:30 pm on a Thursday and the restaurant was very quiet. The service was prompt, polite and knowledgeable. My friend had the Chicken Tikka Masala (since that seems to be the most recommended dish) and I had the Lamb Korba. Both of our dishes were delicious and my friend's willingness to try Indian again in the future has been restored. Thank you, Basera!

So delicious...
Went here with a few friends after work for dinner based on reviews from the site and was not disappointed. Food was very good and excellent portions, service impeccable, and we ended up getting a free appetizer, a free beer, and free desserts (totally complimentary). Very satisfied, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat in the area.

Good choice!
I would definitely recommend Basera if you're in Hell's Kitchen and want some Indian food. We went for a lunch buffet and it was really cheap and delicious. It was also very fresh which is sometimes a gamble at Indian buffets. I would come here again.

Top Choice For Midtown Indian Food!
Chose this place b/c it got good reviews on menupages.com and was not disappointed. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and the food is extra tasty! Our servers were extermely curteous although a little slow to get to us even though it was not busy. The value was excellent for a place w/a nice-atmosphere and great food. They have an extremely well priced lunch buffet but I have not tried it yet. Be assured I will try it soon!

Perfect choice
I found this restaurant via Menu Pages as I was traveling to NY with theater tickets, and Basera did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the prices were amazing. My friend and I both had entrees, shared an appetizer and some naan, and the price was under $40. We were also given free mango chutney and mango ice cream which were both delicious. I highly recommend!
