    hidden find

the chips are homemade, they have fresh fruit for all the mixed drinks and the salsa is smoking hot..its not a big place and its void of a scene but a great find.

    Great place

My wife and I have been here many times and have yet to be disappointed. The dark rum mojitos are the best!

    best mojitos in nyc!

I love this place! The quacamole dip is divine, the enchiladas mole tastes great, and the ginger mojitos very well made. Expect an hour-plus wait after 8pm, it's very small. Great homey atmosphere, nice staff, reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

    cool place

super busy, but a fun place for dinner. food is pretty cheap and tasty and the grapefruit margarita rocks. it's also good for brunch cause there's never a wait. guacamole is also tasty!

    Most Authentic Mexican

The guacamole and the enchiladas verdes are to die for. The tequila selection (over 50 to pick from) is amazing... Atmosphere is always fun and cozy, especially nice as this is hidden away on the lower edge of the LES.

    Great place

This is not authentic Mexican food, but what I would call "nuevo-Latino." Yes the menu is mostly based on Mexican dishes, but their are several creative twists and updates on classic Mexican fare, plus some other interesting creations on the menu. I have eaten there a few times, and have always enjoyed my meals. The salsas for the chips are all wonderful and creative. The spinach/mushroom dish is a must try. I don't even like most vegetables, but found this dish to be wonderful. The camarones barrachos (drunk shrimp) are very tasty, but not dished out in a huge American mega-portion. Speaking of which, the portions here are just-right. Not too much, not too little. The stuffed green pepper was wonderful the first time I tried it (complex lingering flavors), but was on the heavy/greasy side the second time. The drinks are great, but can add up, particularly if you are drinking a lot during your wait. The food is really cheap for the quality/creativity. One time we spent more on the alcohol/drinks than the food!
