Arrived relatively early on a quiet monday night, barmarche slowly filled up, but was never overlycrowded, not sure about weekends though. Cocktail menu was unique and refreshing, poached pear, spicy matador, high ball - all recommended. Ambience was great - intimate with candles and subtle lighting, but still carefree and not oppressive - servers were exceptional and friendly, with prompt yet not overbearing maintenance, probably a given for a relatively slow night, but nonetheless appreciated. We were given all the time in the world to decide meal choices over drinks, and were offered delayed entering of entree's into the kitchen and plenty of time between courses and after the meal finishing drinks to keep the relaxing pace of the night intact. Almond date blue cheese appetizer was excellent, and red snapper entree was above average, fish preparation exceptional, while greens/goat cheese/red onion side was contrasting. Much appreciated night overall.

This used to be a go to place for my friends and I. We all got together there last night and I must say the place has really deteriorated... We had a table of 8 people and not one of them was happy with their food. The service was extremely poor. The price would be reasonable if the food and service were what they used to be. Of all the restaurants to choose from in New York, I would leave this off your list.

I loved the setting and the food was amazing. I would go back in a second to eat again. the service was a little slow, but on a date you don't really care. the wine was good and the food was interesting and very well prepared

I've eaten here before and the food it amazing but holy cow, be prepared to longue on the cool seating for a looooong time. After 20 mins my beer (in a bottle) finally came. After 45 mins no burger came. And no, it wasn't crowded. Roughly four other tables besides mine. Thank you barmarche for the liquid lunch. I just wish I had 2+ hours to devote to a burger and beer meal.

Whenever I come to NY, I always make it here. The food is so delicious, even if the service can be a bit flighty at times. The ambience is great: fun people, beautiful decor. When its warm, they open all the windows, and it is just so charming. The food: pomme frites w/herbs are so good! Even if its not on the menu, ask for the frisee/duck/banana/candied pecan salad. It's so unique and tasty. The Guacamole/Chicken BLT is so great, too. Enjoy your visit there!

Here's the truth. The fried calamari was poor as was everything else. It was overpriced, uninviting and after I waited 15 minutes for a simple cocktail, I reminded the waitress that I ordered one to which she rudely replied "yeah, it's on it's way" from where, Kabul!? I'm shocked that this mess of a restaurant with a boring menu is still in business but I've got another drink saying it won't be much longer. Don't waste your money or your time!

Contrary to popular concensus, I found the service more than adequate, our servicer was very attentive and we were seated right away (Friday night @ 7PM). For appetizers, we had the Calamari Fritas w/ Chipotle Aioli ... the calamari was standard, but the chipotle worked well with the calamari. I had the garlic shredded pork which was a little too dry for my taste, but I had some of my friend's short ribs which I am not usually a fan of, It was very tender and flavorful and the portion was sizable, untypical for the short ribs I usually see. We also shared garlic pommes frites which comes with aioli which were very good.
