    Not recommended

I have never had such poor service in my life. To make a long story short: my friends and i show up on a beautiful sunday afternoon and want to sit outside with a bloody mary and enjoy the weather. All of the tables were taken, so we put our name down with the host, who tells us it will be at most a 20 minute wait. 45 minutes later, there is still no table available, although i see a group of people standing up. Very politely, i alert the waiter that a table is being cleared and we would like to sit at it. All of a sudden, a group of people walking down amsterdam decide to sit at our table without alerting the host. The waiter puts menus in front of them, and then leaves. Shocked, i tell the waiter that we were waiting for that table, and to kindly ask for the other group to get up and wait for the next table. The waiter proceeds to tell me "they already sat down and have menus in front of them, we will seat you as soon as another party gets up." i then proceed to alert the manager that the waiter gave our table away to a random group of people talking down the street after waiting for 45 minutes, and she refused to do anything. I couldn't believe what i was hearing. My group were the only people inside the entire restaurant, we put our name down so there was no confusion, and we reminded them once the other party got up to please seat us, yet they still refused to sit us at that table because the other party was already seated and menus were in front of them. If you want to survive as a restaurant in nyc, do not behave like this.

High end pub food. Elegant dining prices.

Food was good, but $19 for a half sandwich? $16 for a mini Mac and Cheese? Good pub food but when you add up the bill, we should have eaten at a nice restaurant and gotten a full meal. Service was quite spotty and unaccommodating as well.

    A Surprise

I ate a few times earlier at the restaurant replaced by Barley and Grain and vowed never again. Thus I was pleased to discover that it's replacement is actually quite good. The menu is nicely varied and the food carefully prepared. Our server was charming and helpful. The only problem was the noise level both on the sound system and that produced by our fellow diners, at least on a Saturday night: ouch! Give it a try. The UWS needs more good places that don't go bust.

Great New Place @ The Upper West

I visited this restaurant on the week they opened, and nevertheless all seems to function just great : the service was excellent, the food is unique and they have great selection of whisky and beers. Defiantly a place I will come back to!
