the best in murray hill
went with my parents and our dog. the waiter came out right away with bowl of water for the dog. i recommend the veggie burger (get the sweet potato fries) or the lobster ravioli. the breakfast there is always delicious. the omlets come with awesome hash browns and very fresh fruit. disregard the negative reviews below. you can't go wrong here.

bland
I went there for lunch. Ordered a mozzarella/proscuitto sandwich on focaccia with aioli spread. It came on a seeded hamburger bun. Hardly any aioli. Very dry, bland, not much flavor at all, overloaded with dry arugula.

Poor service
What a hit or miss type of joint. The service was sunpar. The waitress literally walked by many times with absolutely no acknowledgement; this is serving 101, acknowledge your customers. Ten minutes later an order was taken and a mediocre meal followed, payment was made all without one word from the waitress.

SoSo Dinner, Better Breakfast
Dinner at the Barking Dog was a dissapointment. My wife had a Roast Beef sandwich, the roll served was rock hard stale. I ordered a mushroom cap appetizer and Rib-Eye steak. The waitress didn't know there were two versions on the mushroom caps on the menu and ordered the wrong one, it was corrected of course, but then the app. was served after my steak arrived. There was also a peculiar taste to the stuffing I could not pick out. The steak was tasty, but overdone and not trimmed very well. The mashed potatoes served with the meal were good, but could have used more pizazz (think GARLIC!). Breakfast, on the other hand was very good, except for the waffles being on the cool side by the time they were served. Everything was cooked correctly, and was served with a bountiful serving of fresh, perfectly ripe cut fruit.

Coin flip?
Barking dog...where do i begin? I order from them at least 2-3x/week...and the food is good. Fresher ingredients than diner food and comparable prices. BUT, who knows what you'll get?! Every time I order, the dish changes. Sometimes a salad will have potatoes with it, sometimes it won't. Sometimes a dish is 11.95, sometimes is 14.95. You just never know. Delivery is a struggle every time. I've been put on hold sometimes 5 times in a single phonecall. The staff don't know their menu at all - i've actually had to describe the salad that i'm ordering over the phone. It's worth ordering from and the food can be very good.....just make sure you know what you're getting before you hang up.

worst brunch experience in New York
I had really high expectations after seeing the menu and after living in Murray Hill for 5 years, I finally decided to give it a try. Bad move! Besides the wait staff being completely overwhelmed and our table not getting all of our orders at the same time, the food was aweful. Any other restaurant/diner would have been better. Our food was cold and bland...most of us didn't finish our food. And the coffee was not good at all.

great for lunch
Ate here last week and had a great lunch. Portions were huge and service was really good. Started with the soup of the day and it was a bowl of chicken with veggies and very fresh. Then we had a smoked turkey sandwich and a turkey club wrap. I asked for a small salad instead of fries and they brought me a main course size side salad and no charge. I will go back.
