Best Gnocchi in Town
I go to Barbuto regularly and think they have the best gnocchi in town. It is nice because they change the accompaniments with the season, so in summer it has asparagus and winter it has a sausage ragu. Love the variety, keep it up!

Great except...
The service was good and the food really is excellent BUT...it's lame and almost offensive that they charge $3.50 if you ask for your like...3-4oz coffee cup to get refilled. Who else does that? VERY stingy, rude and rubs me the wrong way.

Very Good
Had an excellent meal. Food, service and ambiance were all great. The gnocchi was great. Server was pushing the chicken which we didn't get, but I'll certainly be back soon to try it. Portions weren't so large, but neither were the prices. Overall I was very impressed.

unique space, quality food with an upbeat trendy atmosphere
Barbuto's quiet west village location and layout in an old garage sets the stage for unique all around dining experience. While the food and presentation isn't overly creative, it's freshness and suprisingly pallet friendly tastes make it's simple offerings come to life. The waitstaff is attentive, and the bus boys are continously filling your water glass. It's a bit cramped, and you may get the impression of being "rushed" out the door, but it's trendy location makes for a great meal and some above average people watching.

Fabulous Food & Rushed Service
Excellent, beautifully prepared food, the portions are small, but that’s a good thing, as you can order more appetizers and side dishes to share around your entrees. The wine list is good and not expensive. The entrees are all superb. The scallops divine. There is only one big draw back to this restaurant: After two hours they want your table. Even If you ordered every item on the menu and had four bottles of wine, they will bring you the check before you ask for it—and if you don’t take the hint—the hostess will then come over and say she needs your table. This of course ended our evening, and left our group with a very bad taste. If that is Barbuto’s policy (2 hours per table) they need to tell you so when you make your reservation. It was a real turn-off, and as good as the food was, I can’t imagine any of us will return.

Friendly & Fun
Dinner w/ girlfriends on Friday night ... excellent service and great atmosphere - even through the rain! Food delicious but small portions - especially main courses which are served without any accompaniments. Bruschetta appetizer is only ONE slice of bread ... most restaurants serve at least three - definately not worth ordering - go with Risi e Bisi and Mussels ... well priced wine list - I would definately go back especially because of the wonderful service!

We're Back & It's Still Good
Our son, who lives and works in the West Village offered diner at Barbutto for my belated birthday present, on our next visit from the UK. We visited Manhattan recently to claim the present. Nothing had altered from our review below, still very skillfully managed engendering a relaxed and atmospheric ambiance. The grub was good, tasty, and imaginatively presented without being over fussy which often detracts from the enjoyment factor, freshness and warmth. I challenge anyone to find a rival to the claim of "The Best Roast Chicken" in NYC or beyond.
