Tucked away and worth the wait
Looking for a cheap place cause I (the broke friend) vetoed reservations at Elizabeth up the street, we saw a small neon BAR sign and gave it a look. Waited about 20 min. for a table in this 20-seat space and sat at the bar and had delicious jalepeno aiparinhas. The atmosphere is great and the food well-priced. Bartender, host/waiter = awesome. Luckily I was in a forgiving mood, though starving, b/c the one reason they don't have more stars for service is b/c our order (of 2 salads, soup and 2 sandwiches) took OVER AN HOUR! at 11 pm. It was unbelievable. Luckily the waiter dealt with my nagging nicely and shut me up by shoving bread at us. Overall, highly recommended as long as you've got the patience. Best for small group meals.

one of the cutest places i know in the city
i love the place! the food is great, there are fun people, the staff is friendly (and good-looking) and they have good affordable drinks. it's very small, but that's what makes it so cozy. one of my regulars.

Will definitely go back
Visited with a friend and although they do not take reservations for parties under 6 and have little room to wait (the sidewalk bench is your best bet) the food was definitely worth it!!! The chicken and mango coconut curry was to die for! So many items on the menu sounded great that I am already planning my next trip back.

What a delight
I recently visited Barbossa and it was a great experience. The food was great and the service was excellent. I felt welcomed and appreciated not like other restaurants who try to rush you out of the restaurants. But what I liked the best about BarBossa is the atmosphere. It was comfortable and relaxing. I will highly recommend this restaurant as i enjoyed it and plan to visit again.

Small portions
I know the food is pretty cheap, but the portions are very small. Also, my pork was dry and overcooked. Another person in my party only got two measly pieces of pork with his dish. One person ordered the eggplant polenta, which was very good and not a stingy portion. However, they were very stingy with the meat. The drinks are made well. Our first server was slow and she seemed like we were a burden- a terrible server. Early on a new guy came and he was good. The appetizers were really good. The atmosphere is really cool also. All in all, I probably won't go back.

Very nice and relaxing place
I have been to Bar Bossa at various times of the day and it has always been a very enjoyable experience. The cuisine is excellent and you can't go wrong with meals from the menu or the specials of the day. Everything I've tried is very fresh and flavorfull. The atmosphere is unpretentious with understated charm.
