Don't waste your money! Stay away
Stale bread started off the night. Both kinds of bread were stale. Tasty appetizer. The entrees were totally flavorless No taste whatsoever. The lamb was tender, but it needed salt, pepper and flavoring of some kind. It was beyond bland. The salmon was cooked nicely, but the vegetables with it were limp and overcooked beyond recognition. All in all -- go to Morocco or eat somewhere else. It's a "never again" place as far as I'm concerned.

Great service, great food!
On a visit to NYC we came here on our first night as it was close to our hotel. They were closed for a private party but Alam, the general manager let us eat anyways (with approval from the party goers). They make all of their food on premise; this includes the couscous and the merguez sausage, both of which are very good and authentic. The second night a few of our friends had flown in and loved couscous so we went again. Alam was amazing, he knew us right away gave us a great table and threw in a desert on the house for our understanding the night before. If you ask me, we owed him! This place has authentic good, reasonably priced food (for NYC) in an upscale yet cozy atmosphere. I will come again on my next visit!

Unmet expectations
The food was bland and overcooked (Couscous au Poulet). Very crowded diningroom layout

amazing!
Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved it! i love middle eastern food and trying new places and this is def a place to try. the staff is very friendly and attentive and the service is quick but not too quick. there is variety on the menu so there is something for everyone even if people may be skeptical of the morroccan food. i thought it was amazing and defintely a place to try!

tangine not great
Tangine was cooked ok, quality of ingredients was there. But overlal was not representative of what the classic chicken tangine should be. I've been to morocco. So far I've gone to Tangine Tasting Gallery and Barbes and tried Tangines... Tasting Gallery did a much much better job recreating the tangine: better fall-off-the-bone chicken, more integration of the vegetable ingredients. The goal of a chicken tangine is to get the lemon/olives to infuse the chicken stew etc.. Barbes didn't do that at all. Also thought the hummus felt flat as well. Over all restaurant is nice.. well decorated and service was charming. But food needs to be stepped up. Mediocore ethnic won't stand a recession, especially in not-awesome location.

Mixture of Taste
. . . Went for lunch and was slow but the food was good and a varied menu. And generous portions. Doesn't look like much from the outside but well decorated inside . . . lot of tables and could get noisy with a lot of people in there. Again a good place but not a great place in New York but in that area was a reasonable choice.
