    Good place

How can you beat the mussels. It's a nice atmosphere and the night We went, our waitress was great. Really don't understand the negative reviews. This place is worth checking out.

    Exagerated reviews.

I have come to Bar Tabac at different times and have always been happy with their service, atmosphere and food. The fries, salads, tartare, are all great. It is not even close to a pub, much classier and I never saw any drinkers hanging over my head, there are plenty of tables to avoid that.

How can they claim to be French?

Looking for an alternative to Nevada Smith's to watch the French soccer championship, we called Bar Tabac in advance to see whether they'd be showing the game. "Oui, bien sur," they told me so we went out to Brooklyn to have brunch and watch the game. When we got there American football was already on and they would not change the channel. American football in a French bistro? And when one of the biggest French soccer games is also on? What a disappointment. For a "real" French bistro experience, go to Fada instead where, at least they were apologetic about not having the channel that was broadcasting that particular game...

    burger

Went here because of the burger hype but was disappointed... Not enough burger for the bread/fixins they pile on. The french fries were good.

    Could've Been Better

After hearing so much about Bar Tabac I was hugely disappointed in both the service and atmosphere. The service was less than spectacular.. the food was okay but the atmosphere was not.. drinkers hanging over you while waiting for tables, jammed people hanging out on the sidewalk and in the exits. We needed to push our way through the crowd. This is more of a bar scene than a restaurant to sit and enjoy a meal!!

could use a bit more effort

the brunch food was good and well prepared and presented, but the service was unbelievable. the server seemed unhappy to be at work and bothered by us sitting at her table. when she came by to ask if we needed anything she walked away before we could get a word out. also they were blasting 90's sing along rock like it was an Irish Sports Pub or something. with a few tweaks could be lovely.

    Great Place!!

My husband and I went to Bar Tabac for dinner last night. After reading all the reviews from different web sites, I was a little worry. But we had a really nice dinner. The food was good. The service was good. There was live music that we both enjoy. It was a little crowded for a Monday night, but we didn't mind at all. We already talking about going back soon.
