I always enjoy lunch at Bar Pitti, especially in spring and summer when there is outdoor seating. However, the servers and hosts can be very rude. I once commented on the delicious veal meatballs and requested the recipe. Instead of politely saying "we don't give out our recipes", the hostess told me to go downstairs to the restrooms where I would find the recipe on the wall next to the men's room! Needless to say, I never went back.

The food is delicious, but they treat this cute little Italian jem like a Chinese take out place - they rush you in and rush you out...don't look at you when telling the specials. Our waiter was clearly preoccupied with how many people were waiting to be seated instead of focusing on taking our order. If you are in the neighborhood, go. If not, don't bother.

about it... it's very hit or miss with the service but there's usually a rude server for sure. but NO Forks or knifes with to go order and rushed me out of there like i was the problem. NOT COOL and i'm not an uptight person...

The food at Bar Pitti is, indeed, delicious and well-priced. But the service is poor. once our waiter (barely) took our order, we never saw him again. He did, however, attend like a puppy to the table of European tourists next to us who were giving him an unbearably difficult time. Perhaps he was a glutton for punishment. I am not, and there are far too many more delicious, well-priced restaurants in my neighborhood to suffer through this

Bar pitti is my favorite restaurant in NYC for a cheap eat. I somehow always end up there. It of course does not help that my out-of-town boyfriend always wants to go there as well. The wait is usually pretty long and you sometimes feel like you have been forgotten because there is no formal check-in system. However, the food is always fresh. Try the buffalo mozzarella and fetunta for appetizer. I adore the pappardelle a la feisolana for entree.
