Great atmosphere, great comfy seats. but the food was mediocre. the portion to money ratio was terrible, so I looked at the quality of the dish. I had the kobe beef with pan fried noodles. It wasn't great, the choice of ingredients that goes into the dish gives birth to a slight bitter taste which totally ruined the kobe beef so it was mainly a cheep pan fried noodle with beef and you're paying for them to take the sauce out, did i mention it was dry to the point that I finished my over priced shirly temple? My girlfriend ordered the lobster risotto and it was about 4 inches in diamater with 1 lobster claw. Even that taste better but it wasnt specatular, there was a lobster taste to it but it also seems very dry like they cooked it too fast. The lobster claw was not as moist as it expected it to be. It tastes like they boiled the claw to the point where all the flavor was lost. We both agreed that they could of made the dish way more better and tastier. They could atleast improve on the portions and add a little sauce to excite my taste buds. Out of the whole dinner i think i would liked the shirly temple.....if it didnt cost 5 bucks each.

We went after theater for a snack. We had sushi canape at the bar. I was blown away by the the odd combination of fish and truffle, caviar on tuna, etc, etc. I am definitively going back.

this spot is great for drinks, food is a bit pricey but delivers on quality. consistent, courteous, polite staff - perhaps overworked - very helpful...just slowed by the massive ordering. door staff is especially gracious and i highly recommend it. please be from a major city, please be polite, please don't noise it up for everyone else. thanks

The atmosphere was very relaxing and warm due to some nice indirect lighting. Overall, the food was average, but the service was horrible and too slow for a lunch. We waited 15 minutes to be seated and 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order. This would normally be understandable, but the restaurant wasn't at all busy. Then we waited another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I ordered the seared tuna, which was very savory, light, and satisfying. My friend ordered the toro and it was sitting in a pool of oil that reminds one of bad chinese take-out. We wanted to try the green tea mille crepe but they didn't have it, so we ordered the cheesecake and chocolate cake. Of course, we had to wait yet another 20 minutes for desserts that tasted store-bought. The curtains dividing the bar from the tables also unfortunately shielded us from our waitress. While waiting for the check and more tea, we bonded with the table next to us on how disappointing the service and food has become. I wouldn't go back there again, at least not anytime soon.

What I found most impressive about BarMasa was the excellent selection of appetizer sized items, all cooked using various methods. The sauces were delicious, sometimes subtle and gentle and other times bursting with flavor. Everything was so fresh. We tried several items including the chilled sardines and the grilled eggplant; all were great. The sushi was solid, with a few standout pieces. However, the sushi selection platter was twice the price of the omakase at my favorite neighborhood place but definitely only marginally better (with the exception of a few pieces). I would recommend going and trying many of the appetizer items as well as the great cocktails. They are worth the price.

The sashimi is incredibly fresh, and some sushi were filled with fish tartare. I wonder if it was in tartare style to ensure the customer received the most fresh fish, instead of in larger pieces. All in all, better than average sashimi and sushi, even the sticky rice is better.

I went with my girlfriend to check this place out. She ordered sushi. I ordered tempura and the miso salmon. The service was good. The manager is constantly walking around to make sure everything is okay. I found the food to be mediocre at best. My girlfriend is Japanese and I've been to Japan several times. I can make better miso salmon in my home. The tempura was too greasy. I have had tempura at diner type places in Japan that were much better. I think this my might be a nice place to go have drinks after work. They have a lot of really cool cocktails and a chill relaxed kind of vibe.
