Great Neighborhood Spot
I dont normally write on these types of websites but the last review was over the top; I feel as though I must respond. I have had the poached egg, anchovy, and asparagus salad and it is fantastic. What is so strange about egg and asparagus? Gail Greene enjoyed it and mentioned it in her blog. From reading FRANK BRUNI'S dining brief, the chef is from Ouest..one of the best restaurants on the UWS..i dont think he needs to go back to school..frankly you sound childish..the crostini in which you complained about is simply fresh sheeps milk ricotta on toast...if you dont like cheese then why order it.. The bottom line is this place is solid food..I've eaten here several times and it has always been delicious.

thats some bad food
you think your walking into a nice wine bar that will have some nice treats. yes - the wine was good (hard to mess up) but i've never eally tasted such bizarre, frankly disgusting food before. this chef is a looony. poached egg and aspargus?(weird order i know). crostini ricotta that tasted like oatmeal? fava beans that tasted like toothpaste? this chef and menu really needs to go back to school. ill give it some credit for a glass of wine, nice tables outdoors but do yourself a favor and pass on food.

Too Pricey
The food is quite tastey but you think you are ordering an entree and it is a small tapas size portion. I possibly had 2 ounces of fish, bit sized.

Almost
This place is good and almost great. They call themselves a wine bar but have only 10 wines by the glass and no flights. The cheese selection is small (6) and the servings are tiny, plus it comes with 3 small slices of toast. The menu is VERY limited and needs work in rounding it out but the food we had was quite good. The service at the bar was great but the table service was scattered and uneven. With a tweak or two it could be great.

I'll be back...
I've been here three times now, and each time it gets better and better. I always start out with the crostini, which are excellent--just enough so you don't fill up before you can try the entrees, and if you're really hungry, try some starters as well. So far for entrees I've had the skirt steak, rabbit (which i'd never eaten before--YUM), and the chicken. None disappointed, and the chicken was actually my favorite. Really well-priced bottles of wine with an extensive selection, but my wife only drinks cocktails so I usually end up with a smaller portion of wine, which comes served in small caraffes. I did impress a client by scheduling a drink-meeting here. It turned into a dinner meeting--never a bad sign with a client. I'm happy to live only a few short blocks from this new neighborhood spot!

Nothing special in small portions
I ordered a salad niçoise but changed my order when the couple next to me received their salad. So small! Just like what is on the side of your plate when have an entree. Well it was not an appetizer. We started with cheese and charcuterie. Good cheese, but two 1/10" thick slices for one and a thin layer flower shaped for the other? They say the potion were small, but for $9 the appetizer, would you really wanna order three? Take back your decoration grape and caramelized nuts, I WANT MORE CHEESE. My risoto was good but it said with "andouille" on the menu: it wasn't. It was some spicy sausage instead. The chef should know better! The service was good but overall I have been very disappointed, I should have picked the rabbit I guess, but that is not the reason. And reasonable prices are not a reason for small plates and bland food. Otherwise it is just like big prices and big portions of bland food!
