Awesome place....on Tues and Thursdays.
Good food and ambiance, and although the manger was rude and dismissive (seemed like he didn't wanna be there) we had a great night. The bartender was amazing, easy to talk to and such great energy. Even with a full bar she made us feel like we where the only ones there. She said she works Tues and Thurs so thats when I would recommend Bar Luna. Will definitely be back soon to see Lisa.

So Sad
This was one of my favorite neighborhood spots and we came often with friends. We went with a group a few months ago and the menu was very different. The tapas and some of the wonderful appetizers were gone, but we picked a bunch of appetizers and main dishes to share and had a lovely time. I missed the old menu and hadn't been back in a while, but went last night. The menu seems to have changed again which was disappointing. The two places we tried first each had a 30 to 45 minute wait for a table. Bar Luna was empty. When they brought bread to the table it was toasted and hard. They didn't seem to have any fresh bread which we were looking forward to. The food was okay, but we won't be going back.

what a find!
So nice -- from the welcome - the server - the busboys... Atmosphere delightful - had a nice booth! Lighting soft/romantic - music great... Food very nicely presented and quite tasty. A real surprise for the neighborhood!

Perfect bar crowd
Went here with my boyfriend on the advice of a friend. The food was good, decent prices for the UWS. Decor was really pleasant once you figure out the bathroom door. The best part was the bar. Had drinks after dinner and the bartender has a way of making the entire bar seem like a group of old friends while at the same time make you feel like the only one in the room. This was a Tuesday, I think she works one other night of the week (Thurs?). She made it a great night.

Love it here
The best and most cozy restaurant on the UWS. And the BEST mac and cheese ever. I crave it.

Excellent food but...
The food in this restaurant is quite good and there is enough choice on the menu so that most diners could find something they like. Also had an excellent wine there. The service was polite and good though a little slow. But, like too many restaurants in NY, its very noisy. In the otherwise pleasant back room it was really too loud to have a civilized conversation. If you come with a boisterous group of friends and drink a lot it probably won't bother you but I will probably not return. I can't understand why so many NY restaurants seem to be unaware of this problem. A little bit of sound treatment on the ceiling and or walls would tone things down without dampening the appealing buzz of conversation too much.

Loved It!
I was really just looking for some place for a friend and I to have dinner after a game..I was randomly searching through the Menupages listings of Uptown Restaurants and read through the menu..sounded delish! We cut through post-game traffic fairly quickly and arrived about 45 minutes early. Not a problem and they seated us right away. We opted to sit inside since mosquitos tend to love us both and were glad we did. The door was open so there was a nice breeze going, but we didn't get eaten alive. The waitress was friendly and attentive, even advised us about street parking! There was a deal on sangria (2 glasses for the price of 1 per person) so we pounced on that and tried both the red and the white. I honestly liked both and really appreciated that they weren't ridiculously sweet. The food was really delicious as well. I got 2 apps and a side, the goat cheese & beet salad, angry chicken lollipops and grilled asparagus. Salad was fresh and the dressing was light but was definitely there. Chicken lollipops were cute and also delicious. They weren't as spicy as I was expecting, but still yummy. It actually reminded me a lot of duck..but that could have been the hoisin sauce. The asparagus was just very simple (tender/crisp) and yummy. My friend got the pre-fixe, the spicy steamed mussels, grilled chicken paillard, and brownie sundae. I don't like mussels, but I did taste the broth it was in..not very spicy (maybe the two of us are just gluttons for spicy pain?), but had a really good flavor. The chicken looked good, and friend remarked she liked it because it was pounded very thin. Sundae was yummy although I might have preferred it to be a bit more chocolatey. Overall, the food was very good, the portion sizes were on the smaller side but that was good for us since we usually take home half of our food and we got to try a bunch of different dishes. The inside was really cute, with a back room that looked very nice. The bathrooms were really interesting..they had a sort of revolving door..it's hard to explain but just very unique. All in all, I really liked this place. Every song they played happened to be on my playlist which just made it all the better. My birthday is not until February, but Bar Luna is already a contender.
