A long, leisurely Friday lunch at the counter - was fabulous, as it had been for the last 10 or so visits. Service is attentive (even the busboy said hello and asked how i was doing), but not oppressive. Food is truly excellent, if you're willing to pay somewhat heftily. Honestly highly recommended.

I don't have enough superlatives for the Prix Fixe lunch. Service was impeccable, waiter knowledgeable and graceful; manager came by and we engaged him in a conversation which he seemed to genuinely enjoy, we certainly did. Water glasses constantly refilled. Food: Soup of the day, delicious, followed by the best roast duck that I’ve ever had (no exaggeration). Crispy outside and melting inside served on a bed of mushrooms and mashed potatoes. Coconut sorbet that tasted like coconut. My lunch companion had a country pate and pasta with ragout that was outstanding followed by a pineapple sponge cake with pineapple sauce and pineapple sherbet that was divine. She had asked for an ice cream substitution with another dessert then switched to this one, but surprise! They still brought her an additional DELICIOUS ice cream. Yes, the portions are not large in our supersized eating world, they are fine, I was satisfied and I’m a hefty eater. Will take my husband to lunch asap.

Stay Away. Micro portions of food,catatonic service. Never again.

I have given this restaurant all the chances I am going to give it. I have gone on different nights and at different times of day as well as different seasons.... It's all the same... Worse than poor service and only sub par food. Done

Celebrating a big birthday we picked Bar Boulud because it was a high quality french cuisine option that would not quite break the bank. What a pleasure! We went for an early evening dinner and got a good table with no problem. The staff, from the maitre to the busboys were welcoming and friendly without being in your face. (BTW the count of staff to patrons was amazing.) Service was attentive but discreet. The food excellent. We definitely recommend it and look forward to trying some other Boulud restaurants.

With the poor service and the unexciting food, there's really no reason to go there.

Poor service ruined what might've been an acceptable meal. It was 30min before the waitress took our order, and that was only the beginning. Empty plates were left sitting in front of us for 20min, coffee/waters weren't refilled for extended periods, and when we asked for more bread, they only brought it to one part of the table. Plus, portions are skimpy, and the food is just ok at best. Come prepared to spend half your afternoon or evening there.
