Come on bobby, this food can be better....I think the vegas style of serving isn't cutting it. And the A/C was broken when we went. The waiter was nice, and took good care!

    can't cook food properly

Just had dinner, the kitchen does not understand how to cook the food at medium. First it was rare, sent it back, then came back charred and unedible. To add insult, they were rude about it and basically said it was my fault! Bobby Flay, you just lost a customer!!

    snotty bartender take two!!

i was at the bar waiting for a client..i was alone, and happened to overhear a conversation between the two female bartenders... since i was alone, i tried to engage in the conv, but was met with a snotty "what are u talking about" response...i was just trying to kill some time..i felt embarassed and humiliated...there was no call for that treatment...anyway my meal was good, and i liked the atmosphere, but that bartender has to go!!!

    Great again!!!

We came back to Bar Americain for a third visit and so far they are proving greatness. The food is always great, I mean really great!!! I noticed a few changes on this visit and was happy to try them out. The Boston lettuce salad was sooo good!!! We always have the tasting from the raw bar, always good! We love the rack of pork which came with a delicious creamed corn (last time it was creamed onions with kale? which I also loved). Anyway, you get the point...the food is great and the service seems to get better every visit. We will continue to dine here and recommend it to our friends...although a little pricey (even for midtown) still worth a visit...every time! The place is beautiful as well, very sophisticated surroundings!

Bar Americain continues to be one of my favorite Manhattan restaurants. I've been 3 times, bringing new people each time. The service is respectful, the ambiance is absolutely incredible, and the food is very good. Two recommendations: Kentucky Hot Brown and Pacific Coast Butterfish - I'd eat both repeatedly! The only drawback would be the dessert - not as impressive, original, and flavorful as I would expect a restaurant with Bobby Flay's backing to have. Other than that, I'd definitely return for the food and wonderful atmosphere for a memorable evening with special friends and family. Bon Appetit! :)

    Bobby was in da' house!!

We ate here a few weeks back and were very surprised to see Bobby Flay in the kitchen! He was shucking oysters in the front kitchen and we were very happy to see this. The food is fantastic...honest and hearty! The service was very helpful and the place is beautiful. This place really makes you feel like you are in New York City. Crazy busy!! We will be back soon and this is our #1 destination! I am craving the rack of pork as I type...mmmmmm!

    Changing as time goes by

I've been several times, understanding the celebrity chef hype, but food was always solid, service was very good and the staff pleasant. Stayed that way until about 3 months ago. Young lady behind the bar clearly disinterested in being there judging by her lack of enthusiasm and indifference. Almost seemed arrogant, and for the life of us we can't understand why. We ordered cheese, which we always do when we sit at the bar, and they served four cheeses which were all characteristically similar, meaning four cheese, four hard cheeses. And on top of it , one was smoked. selection was always extremely well balanced besides the last 2 times. But that's my point, the last TWO times. C'mon, you have a restaurant in NYC!! Put some thought into the cheese selection! Smoked cheese!?! There seems to be a level of apathy that has crept in and it has diminished the vibrance I feel, and I'm really disappointed because we enjoyed going there. We'll give it one more whirl. And one thing I want to add. All I hear everyone say is "for this many $'s I expect this". Well guess what, you're in Manhattan, you're going to pay $40 bucks for a steak, $14 for a martini and so on. Get used to it. But I've got to ask, "Would you be happy to have a lousy steak for $22?". It's either good or it's not.
