That is the exact aura of this place- the ambiance and the atmosphere had an amber tone. setting the perfect mood for both personal and professional occasions . I wouldn't bring a date here- but a business lunch or dinner or a special event is ideal for this local. The service was good- very attentative and efficient- the food was great. this was my first "bobby flay" experience and it resonates his attitude and personality and it comes through to the food as well. I found the dishes inventive- and some familiar ones with a little kick. the ingredients were fresh and the portions were generous but not overwhelming. it can be a place with too much hype and it can be casual and easy going. I think its whatever you make it to be. If you want to go sit and people watch, you can do that, or just have an enticing meal to yourself .

Sorry, if you gave this place a bad review then you should stick to fast food places. A truly great dining experience. From entering the door to leaving everything was perfect. Classic food with truly top notch professional service in a striking decor. Great from appetizer to dessert including a wonderfully created vegetarian plate that is not on the menu. A must go for anyone that loves to eat and enjoy the whole dining experience.

Food was wondeful - shellfish platter was a great experience- a plethora of fresh fish, great chips w/ blue cheese sauce, loved the chickory salad, crab cake was extremely tasty, hams were great too. loved the gooseberry cocktail!! service as very good too- a very busy packed house and still made tiem for my table yes it is expensive- but so are other trendy NY restaurants...this one is no more so... a great time- looking forward to my return.

We wouldn't go back. Loud, food not that great. Overpriced for the quality. Seating is tight. Don't waste your time!

This was my first Bobby Flay experience. I have to say that i was very dissappointed. I was so excited to eat here but when the meal was over i was so perturbed. One highlight was the oysters. The oysters were really good but then again they don't make the oysters. Complaints? Many. Unless you are rich and don't need a lot of food you should not eat here. All the bottles of wine and entrees were pricey. I don't mind the entrees being expensive and i did know this but the portions were ridiculous. We had scallops...$32 for 4 scallops. Are you kidding me? We also had the snapper. Very small piece. Smaller value.

Very nice. Lives up to the hype (mostly...). The restaurant has clean, modern decor and it's nice to be able to look into the kitchen and see Bobby Flay personally overseeing the kitchen. The service is good. Our table ordered crabcakes and oysters for appetizers and some steaks and the duck for entrees. The oysters and crabcakes were extremely good. The duck was spectacular. The steaks were competently prepared, but nowhere near the best in the city.

We come in to the city about twice a month and always try to dine in one of the better places. Bar American has always been outstanding. Again on 2/3 it was wonderful. From the time we walked in until the time we left everything was perfect. There were 5 of us this time and we all enjoyed our dinners. We are planning to dine here again in 2 weeks.
