    Love this place!

We came in last Sunday for brunch and sat at the bar. The food was fantastic- huge portions and very delicious! The bartender was really cool- he was really fast with our drinks, very friendly, and gave excellent food recommendations. Bar 89 is a great place and I love bringing out of town guests here to experience it.

    Great bar

I love this bar. The space is amazing and their special drinks are delicious. Everything I've ever eaten here has been good too, although I've usually stuck to the more traditional items like hamburgers and buffalo wings.

    Unhelpful Waitress

I'd give this place 4 stars as the food, ambiance, service is ok. Not great that I'd rave to all my friends about, but not bad where I wouldn't go back. But I give this place 3 stars this time because of this one horrible, I mean horrible experience with a waitress there on Jan 1st. She was ok the whole time but when it came to the check, this is what happened. My sister's boyfriend signed the bill for $63. She took the bill immediately after he signed it. I thought it was rude to take that while people are still sitting and chatting. We thought the bill was a bit high, so we had her bring the bill out for us to check the break down of things. The break down showed $53 and did not line up with the $63 we signed for. So we called the waitress over to figure out why there's a discrepancy. Ultimately, she forgot to take off the $10 drink we had canceled and have us signed the higher bill and said she was going to take off the $10 after wards and was hoping we wouldn't catch that mistake. However, her tip was based on the initial $63 charge. Had we not caught this mistake, she would have probably charged us $63. She was speechless and tried back peddling when we told her it was not right. It was a terrible experience as we brought my sister and her boyfriend there for the first time and they are visitors from LA. Such a bad impression to visitors and it makes the restaurant look really bad as well.

    Huge portions of ok food.

The portions are huge, the setting nice, and the service very good. The food itself is average carb laden comfort type food. But definately worth a visit if this is what you are looking for.

    Doesn't add up...

The burgers are awesome, and the waffle fries that come along are perfect. My only complaint is the price of drinks. It just comes as a big surprise when you're having a $12 meal to be charged $17 for one martini. I guess the drinks are the way they pay the rent. Other than that, will continue to dine here....but skip the martini.

Service and space still great...food not

Returned to Bar 89 after a few yrs to find that the food has gone downhill. Tried a number of appetizers and sandwiches all of which lacked flavor and were over salted. The space and service was excellent as before.

    Great!

The restaurant was suggested to me by a clerk at a nearby store and it was just what my friend I an were looking for after a long day of shopping. Bar 89 is stylishly decorated with space-age bathrooms and fresh flowers on all the tables. The food and drinks were good and reasonably priced, especially for the neighborhood. Overall, Bar 89 manages to be both casual and sophisticated, and I highly recommended it if you are in the area.
