Decent lunch deal, but beware the tea.

Bann's lunch box, at $12.00 is pretty good. Especially the braised beef ribs. The attractive tray includes a very good dmpling soup, a small selection of pickles and kimchee, salad, rice and the main course. The cooking is competent, not spectacular. The ala carte section of the menu, however, is overpriced. And beware of accepting the offer of tea - it's $3.00 per person, not free as in every other Korean place. (They even charge for the pickled vegetable!) The service is somewhat incompetent, but that's because they can't hold on to servers for any length of time. As for atmosphere, it's a pretty room, but way too big, empty and cold-feeling. If you want to go, go soon - I can't see how they stay in business. The place is huge, and almost always empty.

    Amazing Dining Experience

I ate dinner here with a group of people and everyone was impressed by the quality and presentation of the food. From tuna tartar served in a boat made of ice to another appetizer that came out with fire, just looking at the various dishes was a show of its own. Everything we ordered was fantasitic and full of unique flavors. The service was excellent and the entire staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have tried everything on the menu! I'm definitely rushing back for another meal.

    Excellent - highly recommended

We have been to Bann several times and the food was alway excellent. The dungeness crab and the baked scallops are amazing as appetizers. The black cod entre is the best dish we had in a restaurant. The bar-b-que, especially the fillet is also magnificent. We highly recommend it.

    Good Atmosphere but Average Food

My girlfriend and I had been looking forward to Bann's opening, as we were searching for a good Korean restaurant in the neighborhood. We went there when it first opened. It had a great atmosphere, and the wait staff was hospitable. But, the food there was expensive and of average quality. I understand the restaurant wants to attract a non-Korean crowd and perhaps has tried to adapt traditional Korean recipes to the Western taste. But to my native Korean taste, the food was nothing special. To be fair, their dessert menu was creative and tasty.

    Great place for special events

Beautiful decore, excellent service, good food. It is a perfect place for 1st date, birthdays, etc. But if you just want to have some good Korean food with old friends, go to Korean Town, that will save tons of $$$$

    Hidden treasure

A few of my co-workers decided to go to Bann because it is convenient to our office. We weren't expecting anything great, particularly because it was fairly empty at lunch time. When we walked in, we were impressed with the atmosphere. Very modern and clean. We were also quite surprised at how amazing the food was. The service was also really attentive. We shared a series of appetizers that were all really delicious. We also did the barbeque, sharing fish, meat and vegetables. We were all really impressed. This place is hidden in the courtyard of world wide plaza so it is easy to miss. We all really enjoyed our meal. No one was disappointed. I highly recommend it.

    Woo Lae Oak's new restaurant

Woo Lae Oak has been my favorite restaurant for years and the managers there told me about their new location in Midtown. I was reluctant to leave the downtown scene but I finally went to Bann and let me just say it was great. The decor is elegant and chic and the menu, with some of my favorites from the SoHo location, is more refined and adventurous. They really know what they're doing at this new restaurant. Service was great and I think I will be venturing back to Midtown to eat here more often. All in all, I think it's better than Woo Lae Oak.
