I have been going to 6th street for years and wanted to take my friend to more of an upscale indian rest for her birthday. We were highly disappointed. The grilled veg. with shrimp was burnt, and the portions were the smallest I have ever seen. The only thing that this place is good for is the ambiance. There is pretty decor but food is mediocre. There are better indian rest. around. Dont waste your money here.

So, I just got back from Banjara, my usual spot for good Indian. Today's experience has changed all that. Ordered (two kaati rolls, butter chicken, murgh tikka maslam, and two butter naan). After about 10 min, we'd finished the kaati rolls. 25 min passed and a busload of about 60 tourists walked in and was served immediately. 45 min after our initial order I asked after our food, and 10 min later we received our gravies in bowls rather than the covered metal 'handi' dishes they usually come in which keep them warm. The gravies were cold, and the tikka maslam, which is usually a generous portion, was a pittance. I had to ask for the naan as they'd been forgotten, and when it came it was also cold. It was at this point I smelled smoke and realized that the flowers on the next table were so wilted they had drooped into the candle and caught light. At this point, an hour after we first ordered, we are eating cold gravies of questionable portion and cold naan in the smoke of a burning flower on the next table over. The sixty tourists are making a hell of a racket, but I notice their gravies are plentiful and steaming. As I'm turned around looking at the tourists, I notice that rather than properly bussing the plates of the previous diners to either side, and our appertizer plates, they've been piled on the table behind us. In disgust, I fold up my napkin to pay and leave when I notice a smear where some previous user of the napkin has wiped his knife.

I can't believe there are any bad reviews. I love this place. I love the chicken salan curry the most . The service is good too. Blows away any Indian on the block. Worth the extra money. Way better quality period.

Unless you have a fat wallet and want to spend a lot of money and not get much on your plate -- this is your place ! ! Overall food taste was mediocore; could get better on curry road. Dont order the tomato soup, was canned and terrible. The food portions are really small, so if you are hungry and care about your spend, this is NOT the place for you. Being an Indian myself, i can tell you i do NOT recommend this place to anyone. If you want authentic indian food, you are better off other places on 6th street

Banjara is my go-to Indian restaurant, because the food is absolutely delicious, and it's not over-priced like some fancy midtown Indian restaurants. The food hasn't been sitting in a pot drying out all day like buffet style restaurants. The food is fresh, the mango lassis are great (not too sweet, not too tart), and the service is good. Try the pasanda lamb. It's delicious!

when its good its really good.. It's just been extremely inconsistent lately..One day the sauces will be creamy and the next day it will be watery.. etc etc

Used to be really good about 2-yrs ago. Last time i went i was completely disappointed. My cup was slightly stained and it had a piece of food left in it. I asked the waiter 2x for a new tea cup only for him to bring me that exact same cup for the second time with the same stains. Another disappointment was the added 20% tip added to the bill which i almost double because i didn't know the tip was already added to the bill. Their bills are scribbled on a pc of paper so be careful and make sure you understand fully what you are paying for. I will definitely not go to Banjara again and i plan on spending my money else where such as Taj Mahal where the food is alot cheaper.
