Best Indian food on UES!
I think this Baluchi's location has the best food in town! And if you go for lunch, you'll get 1/2 off their regular prices :-) I'm a big fan of their Chana masala which always tastes fresh and just off the stove. The owner is also quite hospitable and even remembers my standard order when I come in :)

Food is OK but expensive
Food is not bad but portions are very small. The bill adds up as you need to order two dishes per person (or else get some pizza after finishing here! ) Service is mediocre. There are better options available in the area.

Great for delivery/Delicious food
They have the best, most consistent Indian food on the UES. We get food delivered from there almost every week, and it's been amazing every time. Wouldn't recommend going into the restaurant, because it's very small and the service is poor. But when delivered, the food is outstanding, a great value, and have always had quick, accurate delivery service. Highly recommend the Chicken Makhani and Goan Shrimp Curry.

Poor Quality
This is the first time I ever bother to write a review online. I love indian food and this restaurant is terrible. Ordered the chicken tikka masala...it was ok sauce and subpar chicken.....this baluchi's isn't good

Awesome Tikka
Every rest in this hood has its faults. But these guys have turned the corner. The tikka is excellent. Give em a try, get the cauliflower it's the bomb.

Poor delivery
I have ordered lunch from Baluchi's 81st St. delivery-only place many times and was very pleased, but last night I ordered dinner, and it was a totally different story. My food took an hour and a half to arrive, and when it did, not only was it spilled all over its bag (it had clearly been dropped, as one of the container lids was split open), it was the WRONG order! Not even close to what I wanted. I called to have them take the charge off my card, and the man on the phone said he would send over a fresh order immediately. 25 minutes later (which is NOT "immediately"), my order arrives and the delivery guy thinks that I owe him more money for the order - when I explain what happened, he goes all mopey and sad-face about not getting a tip. FORGET IT! I will never order from them again, which is a pity, since the food is pretty good.
