Portion sizes smaller lately!
Used to love eating here. However, the tough economy must be impacting portion sizes - during most recent trips the portions were smaller. For example, the tandori combination platter used to be so big you would be stuffed silly. Now they haven't even included the usual leg of tandoori chicken, and have had so little food had to get pizza afterwards. Also, if you get delivery they often forget rice and bread!

Great food, great value.
I've been eating from various Baluchis around the city for almost 15 years. The food is really quite good. And you can't beat the value for what you're getting. The prix fix take out package is enough to eat for two plus meals. And they have the most popular, most delicious dishes on it. As for the guy who got a claw...yeah, it sucks, but what did you think you were eating? Chickens have claws. At least you know the meat you're getting is fresh. And look at the bright side--you didn't get a paw!

I may never eat chicken again!
After a long-time take-out relationship with Baluchis I will never eat their food again. I may never eat chicken again! There was a claw in my 'white meat only' chicken vindaloo. I only discovered it after it was in my mouth. What an awful experience. Baluchi's take-out special is a great deal - but at what cost to the consumer! (We did call and report to the manager who was very nice). But I still probably will not order from them again. In 12 years of living in NYC this is the first I have heard of someone finding a claw in their chicken. Enough said.

Not bad
I have always liked the food here, but noticed the 2nd to last time I went that it did not taste as fresh or as good. Hoping that it would be a good experieince again, I returned last week and really enjoyed my meal again. I like the decor too. The only thing I could never get used to are the metal water cups.

Getter Better in the last Six Months!!!!
They're really trying lately. Maybe it's the recession, maybe someone told the owner, but we're looking at an expanded menu, better food - really - and quick service. Gone is the depressing - no, you can't - attitude and now it's how nice to see you! This may be the best Baluchi right now. The bosses used to be bullies but they seem to be very mindful of Hard Times and at lunch the place is packed out. There are a few new curry joints in the nabe, but this one is way ahead of the pack. The paneer is excellent. Well done!

Best I've had!
It was probably the best Indian food I've had. The service was far from perfect but they were very polite and happy to serve. We had samosas, garlic naan, chicken tikka and chicken vindaloo. In both of our dishes, the chicken was well spiced and very tender! The naan was made fresh and the chickpea sauce they served with the samosas was to die for. I don't know how anyone could have rated their food as poor we love Indian food and we will definately be back!
