Fantastic food, service and wine
After visiting New York i must add to this review section. Balthazar was a fantastic place to dine and it's a shame you only rate it out of 5 as i would give it 10 out of 10.

One of my favorites...
The food was wonderful on my visit to Balthazar. The seafood tower is not to be missed and the trout is extremely flavorful as well! The service was very slow that evening, which isn't usually the norm, but the general manager made up for the delay by bringing out complimentary glasses of champagne and desserts for the whole table at the end of the meal. This restaurant is not to be missed!

There is no place like this in Manhattan
Enough said!

Love the soup
The onion soup was wonderful... gotta go back for more. The cheeseburger wasn't that tasty, not enough ingredients inside and too dry... But the organic salmon was great.

And Now. . . .
I can finally say been there and done that. It was what I expected for a weekend brunch in terms of the crowd and the wait- but then again it's always like this. Despite the bustling shuffles of crowds the service was timely and courteous. Our waiter was friendly and timely. The food was good- nothing extravagent- but typical french fare. Portions were suffice and simply presented. No fancy garnishes or compostions. You get what you order. I had the grilled brook trout on a bed of spinach and lentils. The lentils were savory and the spinach was even and lightly coated with seasonings, the trout was moist and soft. Overall it was good. My friend mentioned the cappucino was in poor taste and her fettuccini lingered bit on the salty side. Definitely stop by the bakery next door and pick up a batard or a boule for your home.

Better than expected...
I just returned from a late lunch at Balthazar, invited by friends in town from San Fransisco. I usually don't frequent the predictable, "establishment" type places more than once, since I've been here long enough to find my own faves, but Balthazar this time around was quite enjoyable. The food was better than I remembered from when I was there a year ago and before. (I had the trout salad.. needed salt, but a quick dash made it a very respectable entree.) The pain de poilane makes me giggle selfishly at the Atkinser's who shun it... what they miss, they cannot know. All in all, a very, very lovely dejeuner.

Sunday
Saturday and Sunday around 1:00 pm are the best. Food is great, service is excellent and the atmosphere is SoHo.
