    Great recommendation

It was recommended to us as we were about to go on our first visit to New York in September 2006 by my hairdresser. He said it was his favourite place to eat in NY and I agree with him entirely it's absolutely a great place to eat in New York. Lots of hussle and bussle and wonderful food and wine. We loved it and will be returning to New York over Christmas and will definitely pay them a visit or two.

I love, love, love this place

My fiance took me here for my birthday last year and it's just as incredible as everyone says and more.. I'd highly recommend it.

    So Parisian!

This place is wonderful! My husband and I just returned from Paris, France celebrating our 10th year Wedding anniversary. Before that every year we traveled from Southern New Jersey to NYC to celebrate our anniversary at this fabulous restaurant. Its magical and it takes you for one evening to the bistros in Paris. An enjoyable evening from start to finish.

    Lived up to my expectations!

We had a 10pm reservation here on a Saturday night. It was a good thing we had one, because the people that were coming in without one had an hour or more wait. The service was the best we experienced in our four day trip to NYC- by far. The food was also very good. The onion soup is to die for- highly recommend! Although we didn't order the seafood bar, many people did and it looked incredible. We will definitely be trying that on our next visit. And there will be a next visit.

    Charming and tastebuds were delighted

Balthazar's is everything people say it is. This brasserie has dim lighting, shiny red leather seats, and aging walls that lend to its antiqued vibe. The seats are a bit cramped, but the food was exquisite. I had the goat cheese tart that was so fluffy it melted in my mouth. The sauteed cod wasn't good, so don't get that (overly salty) but the bellini martinis are a must to start your dinner off right. I asked for chocolate bread, and the waiter happily obliged to my request and went out of the way to get it for me. He didn't even charge me for it, and I was so happy. The DESSERT--Banana Riccotta Tart was sooooo good you MUST get it. A blend of vanilla ice cream, buttery crust, and carmelized bananas on top smothered ina light caramel sauce was simply irrestible and we gobbled it up too quickly. A word of advice, get your own dessert and don't share! It's pricey but DEFINIITELY worth it. if you're going to complain about the price then you should not even bother coming here, it's truly an experience and worth the money you spend.

    I think I'm in love

Balthazar is in my neighbourhood, and I have to say it is one of the more fun and fabulous places I have had the pleasure of going. I think the atmosphere is what I love the most, the bright beautiful decor, fresh flowers, bar. The seafood tower is outstanding, including oysters, mussels, lobster, shrimp and the best scallop seviche I have ever had. Round out your meal with french fries with house made mayonaise, and a salad, and there is really nothing else you need. Maybe a martini or a great glass of wine. I don't eat red meat, but my family assures me that the steak is excellent and cooked to order. Excellent, expert service staff, friendly bartenders, the only bad part is the wait. But it's always worth it!

    Amazing Service!

I went to enojoy a nice dinner when I came into town from California and was blown away by every element of Balthazar!!! The service was the best part of the experience. The food was good but vegetarian choices were not that plentiful. But our waiter was on top of table and made us feel like we were the only people in there! I will definitely come back and eat there every time I am in NYC!

3,000+ menus from the world's most diverse neighborhood.
