    Poor service, decent food

Decent food, but nothing extraordinary. The service, though, is definitely lacking. Be sure to hoard your water, since you may have to fight for a refill. The servers range from ok to surly, and the management is also grumpy. But it's not a bad option if everything else is closed.

    Great find

I found this gem quite by accident - a lovely surprise! My colleagues and I had lunch here and all of us agreed that we would be back! We each ordered something different and everything was superb. Loved the space, the waiter was sweet, warm, and professional. This is my new favorite place in Nolita.

    Poorest service in NYC

I had never been told before I sit down at a table - with a reservation- that we have only a certain amount of time at our table. I had never had a waiter ask me "are you done?" while I'm still chomping my dinner with my fork in my hand. I had never felt so rushed and so bomarded from the door to the table. The food was very good but even fantastic food can't make up for being treated like you're taking service away from the place, when you're actually shelling out a significant wad of cash. I'll. never. go. back.

    Delicious, flavorful food

I, too, am surprised by the complaints that the small plates are small. They aren't cheap, but they ARE delicious. Don't people check the menu or read reviews before they stumble into places? Yes, Balaboosta is pricier than a lot of downtown places. But it's inventive, superb cuisine. If you don't really care what you eat, but don't want to spend much while getting full--fine. But don't denigrate an excellent, unusual restaurant because you didn't know what you were doing when you stumbled in.

    Phenomenal food

I go out a lot and to the latest and greatest and cannot remember having such inventive and tasty food in such a long time. Room needs some work and some sound proofing but food is deelish!

    Fun, good food

something different than the same old Italian and Bistro - finally!! Nice space - not cramped - Nice reception, interesting menu - lots to choose from - good for sharing! Food delicious - fresh. Server was cute - eager to please. What's the problem? NO PROBLEM!! Looking forward to next time!
