I ordered fish and chips; liked the crust (I think some sort of rice flour) but the fish was undercooked, and I like "barely cooked" fish. Many would not like what I had. Wait staff pleasant enough, but clueless as to menu, fish of the day, how prepared, etc. Might give it one more try because the place is convenient, reasonable, and could correct what I found wrong.

I have never had a single bad experience at Bait and Hook. I started coming here a couple months ago and ever since I have become a regular. I really love every aspect of this restaurant. The servers/bartenders I know are wonderful and chill (Irina, Bel, Amelia) and the owners truly give this place a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed and not too loud half and half bar and sit down feel. This is just the tip of the iceberg, however, because the food is really what it's all about! The first time I came here I tried the seafood salad and I immediately realized the freshness and quality of the seafood here could not be beaten at this price. I now know personally that the owner buys the fish fresh everyday. I am from Boston and I know my seafood - unless you took it out of the sea and put it right on the grill it is not going to get much fresher than this. I have since tried various items including the Baja fish tacos, the crab roll, oysters, fish and chips and more. Everything has more than satisfied me and at a very reasonable price. What has truly impressed me is the attention to detail. It is difficult to screw up fish tacos if you have fresh fish and a good sauce, but here even the coleslaw was fantastic. At $12 for the fish tacos I highly recommend them (the chipotle mayo is awesome!). Honestly, I could go on for quite a while about Bait and Hook, but it comes down to this: the atmosphere and experience is very nice, the food is excellent, and it this price it just doesn't get any better than this!

After reading the menu I was excited about this seafood place. Unfortunately, it was a let down. Food was very greasy, lukewarm at best, and bland. The fish and chips was incredibly greasy and tasted like old oil, even though it was the peak of dinner time. Fries were limp. Tartar sauce was just ok. Obviously, the cook didn't fry the fish at the right temperature!! I actually wondered if I would eaten less grease if I ate at the fast food joint across the street! Everything tasted like the chef lacked in culinary skills. Service was slow. No one even asked us how our meal was. Not recommended.

I was so happy to see a fish restaurant open here. Unfortunately, it's not very good. The cod in the fish & chips was half-cooked and slimy instead of hot and nicely flaky; the chips too were half-raw and hard. The fried clam bellies were very good, but not very plump and again, not hot enough. Chowder was good, though. Probably won't be back.

My friends and I were excited to try this place and were greatly disappointed by the food and service. Our lobster bisque soup lacked pieces of lobster. Another order came wrong (with mayo) and we're pretty sure it was just wiped off, rather than prepared properly. Overall, it just wasn't enjoyable. It wasn't busy, so there was no reason for the slow/poor service. Definitely wouldn't recommend it and we won't be going back.
