Good Local Food
This is a good spot to go and get tasty grub. It is somewhat no frills in the service and atmosphere department, which is not necessarily a negative, but just very basic. The good food certainly outweighs any shortcomings in those areas. The food is not very expensive and you can get an appetizer and entree for about 20 dollars per person.

Delicious Afghani food in Brooklyn!
Just had a great Afghani dinner at Bahar on Coney Island Ave. The food was really really delicious in every way. The service was wonderful- our waiter very sweet. The atmosphere was nice- nothing fancy, but also not a hole in the wall. The pumpkin turnovers were incredible- like nothing I have ever had. We will be going back for sure!

You go for the food...
The food is excellent. Bottom line. Yes, the service is spotty at times (Though never rude - or at least, not to me) and the TV is a bit annoying - but the food...is amazing. Well worth putting up with the other small annoyances to savor the flavor that comes from this kitchen.

food very good, service is fine
Well, I don't know what those whiny people were expecting service-wise, but we have eaten here at least 50 times over the years, and have never had rude service. It's not haute cuisine, and neither is the atmosphere, which is pleasant, and if you can get into it, the TV with movies playing is funny and entertaining.

Squandered potential
Bahar is an exceptional disappointment. If you call to order, you'll likely have to contend with a teenage girl who lacks any sense proper decorum. Even if you live a block away, which I do, you'll wait at least an hour for your order to arrive -- if they're even delivering which, whenever they feel like it, they are not. And the meals are way overpriced. All of which is a shame because the food itself is actually good. Sorely disappointed in these folks.
