We ordered several platters for 7AM delivery for a bris being after morning services. We were told 7:30 guaranteed, no problem. 8AM came and went, finally 8:30 we got delivery. The bris was at JTS and the food was to be delivered one block away. The food was great, took some of the bagels home and they are still fresh 2 days later. The service however sucked, one person had to miss the bris to await the delivery that was supposed to come at 7:30 guaranteed. The delivery man got really upset because he got no tip for his services. He had a few choice words to say which is why I am writing this review as my wife paid over $300 for the platters which were great, good presentation etc, but when you say you will be there at a certain time, be there. A few minutes delay is acceptable, but an hour. Oh, and there were no traffic issues on Broadway or Amsterdam ave that morning as I watched from the second floor at JTS. I have no issues with tipping accordingly, but NO one will ever ask me for a tip and receive one. I guess NYC is different than the rest of the country, where you tip someone for good service not bad service. If you are going to be late, Tell Me, don't just show up 1 hour after you guarantee when you'll be there and expect me to be pleased with you screwing me, and then to ask where is my tip? If the delivery was from a private service not Bagels & Co itself that's not my problem, last time I checked I was the customer paying the bill. If the driver was not familiar with the area, not my problem again. Excuses don't cut it, but then again, I live in a different part of the country where actions speak louder than words.

I have tried many a bagel as an individual who grew up in Brooklyn, The bagel capital, and Bagels & Co has a pretty delish bagel. Service can be rude at time and is often rushed. The tuna is primarily mayo, and the coffee is hit or miss. My biggest gripe is that they do not accept credit cards and they have no ATM in the store. Make sure you are carrying cash before you go.

I just wanted to reply to the reviewer who said this place is always closed. This placed is closed on Friday night through Saturday every week because its Kosher which means they observe the Sabbath. Just thought id let you know. I wish it were open on Saturdays too. If you live on York Ave in the low 70's you have no other option!

I get bagels here frequently. They are the best in the area. The service is ALWAYS pleasant, fast and accurate. I'm shocked to see how many others feel differently. The only thing that sucks is the many many children running around all the time. I'm guessing that maybe some of the people that have been treated rudely have deserved it for allowing their kids to run around disturbing everyone while they eat. To you folks, please get your bagels to go!

Is it just me or is it everytime I go here the place is closed? I am shocked, it is closed almost every weekend! Bagels are good though.

I work nearby and have visited Bagels & Co. on countless occasions and have never had a problem with their service. They always help me right away and their bagels are phenominal. It does take a few minutes to pay because you have to wait for your order to be filled first.

For those of you who are annoyed with the service (and I agree that it's not great), you need to remember that this a kosher place--that means that they can be rude without consequence because they know that at least those of us who keep kosher have no other choices of bagels or pizza in this neighborhood and will therefore keep coming back. Aside from the fact that the food is great, they do a great service for our neighborhood in providing kosher bagels and pizza, and if you don't keep kosher and the service really bothers you, than go to the million and one other bagel shops around. But please don't ruin it for those of us who don't have that option.
