Great Bagels, Closed Saturdays.
This is one of the better bagel places around. The bagels are EXACTLY how they should be–soft, chewy middle with a nice crispy light coating. Never disappoints. The only problem I have is that they are closed on Saturdays. I completely understand, they are Jewish and closed for religious reasons, but as a business model, it's a total head-scratcher. I'd assume this place could probably do about 25% more business a week if they were open on Saturday, but hey, I don't own the place. Recommended, just not on Saturday...

This Place Is The Best
I never write reviews either way but I was watching my kids and craving a bagel so thought I would order. then I read some of the reviews. Here's the problem - no one ever says how good something is, the few people who don't like something use the internet to voice their opinion. Just want people to know this place is fantastic with everything fresh and the service is always extremely friendly. This is a very family oriented place. I wish they were open Saturdays too but don't need carbs every day!

Somethings changed here
Picked up a dozen today and they are not what they used to be. They were always heavy and chewy and fresh. These bagels had so much air in them that they made a lenders bagel look good. I don't know what's going on here but they lost my business.

fresh and tasty
I live a couple of blocks away from Bagels and Co. and my kids go to PS158 and East Side Middle. The middle schooler eats there at least 2 times a week. All the kids go there and they treat them very nicely. He loves the Pizza they give very big slices and it is cheaper than anything around. I love their White fish Salad and their Tuna Salad. Both are incredible and I highly recommend it. All is all it is a nice local place that is clean and fresh and has always been very nice to the schools and faculty in the area and I felt people should know that and support their local business' unless you want Manhattan to turn into an outdoor mall with only crappy francises to eat at.

regarding person below
First of all i work at bagels and company on 76th and york and i can assure you that the bagels are made fresh every morning and are continuously made through out the day. If you had gotten stale bagels is only because you happened to come in the middle of the day and/or in a time where we haven't made new bagels. The bagels are so good that sometimes i travel 1 and a half hour from my house just to buy bagels from there for the week.

Stale Bagels!
I realize they are Kosher and have to close on Saturdays but that is no excuse to have stale bagels Sunday morning. They won't bring out fresh bagels until the stale ones are gone and got really angry when we insisted on fresh bagels. Since they are closed on Saturday I can only assume these bagels are from Friday. 2 day old bagels?... No thanks. Don't get me started on the service. My family and I have been coming here for a while but we're done with this place.

Poor delivery service
We ordered several platters for 7AM delivery for a bris being after morning services. We were told 7:30 guaranteed, no problem. 8AM came and went, finally 8:30 we got delivery. The bris was at JTS and the food was to be delivered one block away. The food was great, took some of the bagels home and they are still fresh 2 days later. The service however sucked, one person had to miss the bris to await the delivery that was supposed to come at 7:30 guaranteed. The delivery man got really upset because he got no tip for his services. He had a few choice words to say which is why I am writing this review as my wife paid over $300 for the platters which were great, good presentation etc, but when you say you will be there at a certain time, be there. A few minutes delay is acceptable, but an hour. Oh, and there were no traffic issues on Broadway or Amsterdam ave that morning as I watched from the second floor at JTS. I have no issues with tipping accordingly, but NO one will ever ask me for a tip and receive one. I guess NYC is different than the rest of the country, where you tip someone for good service not bad service. If you are going to be late, Tell Me, don't just show up 1 hour after you guarantee when you'll be there and expect me to be pleased with you screwing me, and then to ask where is my tip? If the delivery was from a private service not Bagels & Co itself that's not my problem, last time I checked I was the customer paying the bill. If the driver was not familiar with the area, not my problem again. Excuses don't cut it, but then again, I live in a different part of the country where actions speak louder than words.
