    Excellent, really.

I think these bagels are excellent. And I just don't get the staff rudeness allegations - I've been there at least 50 times, and they've always been really nice to me, and I've never seen them mistreat another customer. There's sometimes a language barrier, but it's just not a problem. I do think that anyone who knows real bagels will agree that this place is one of the better joints in town. I just wish they had chopped liver...

    This is The Real Thing

I was born in Manhattan, and was surprised at the previous negative comments. To set the record straight, an authentic New York bagel is not soft, fluffy, puffy, or rubbery. It should crunch when you bite into it and have such an interesting contrast of crusty exterior to dense (not spongy) interior, that you can eat it with nothing on it and it is still fabulous. This store makes an authentic New York bagel, and it is unfortunate that so many people who have gotten used to the doughy soft blobs that pass for bagels all over town have found all kinds of reasons to criticize this establishment. You don't go here for the great service or beautiful surroundings, but just for bagels that adhere to a great old tradition and are absolutely addictive.

    no taste - chewy bagel

Being new to the neighborhood, i was excited to find a good bagel place... this is not one! I ordered a poppyseed bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagel was chewy and had no taste, the cream cheese was plain cream cheese with a few pieces of vegetables.

    Poor employees

I just moved around the corner and have given this place three chances. No more. The service is unbearably slow. I have been second in line and waited 15 minutes for a bagel. There's no urgency and zero customer service...and in the morning, that's a tough one to swallow. I now just go next door to the deli and grab a bagel there...not worth the hassle.

    Best Bagels in New York

This is the best bagel in New York and if you do not think so, you do not know bagels. You can even freeze them and they taste just as fresh as the day you buy them. Staff is friendly and very courteous. Nice patio area out front to sit and eat in nice weather. Love this place!

    never again

I just dont understand why people patron places like this. Perhaps service with a smile is no longer an option, but this is the rudest staff in the city. They dont listen to your order so you have to repeat yourself 5 times. Even then, they still get your order wrong. Worse yet, when you confront them on how they screwed up your order, they demand more money to correct their error. When you ask to speak to a manager, they as you to leave. Worst of all, the bagels are severely overpriced.

    Stay away from this place

This place is a rip off. Two bagels with cheese and tomato for $10...everything is overpriced and to make matters worse the bagels aren't even that good. I never write reviews of restaurants but I felt compelled based on my latest experience here....it's just not worth it.
