over priced
$7 for a bagel with a slice of cheese and a small coffee....you've got to be kidding me! This is not a diamond encrusted meal! And when I inquired, I was told with an attitude that the $4 slice of swiss cheese was imported...puuulease! NEVER AGAIN!!

I miss this place
I haven't been back to NYC in several years and Bagel Basket is the only place I would go to for breakfast while I was back. When I stepped in and smelled the aroma of fresh bagels, sizzling eggs and fresh brewed coffee I realized just how much I missed the City. I grabbed a seat at the breakfast bar and watched the world go by over a fantastic omelet and a fresh crunchy chewey bagel. The food here is great and the owners are the nicest people you will ever meet. Be grateful that you have this place New Yorkers. if yo ever leave the City you will miss it.

absolutely perfect
I have to put my 2 cents in here: the Bagel Basket serves bagels and is not a gourmet breakfast or brunch place. It also makes a scrumptious thing called a flagel (pronounced like bagle but with an "fl" instead of "b"). The flagel is the dreamiest thing, especially if you're a fan of the crunchy part of bread (i.e., you take the heel from the bread basket at dinner). The salads here are also fantastic: egg, tuna, etc. all good, no surprises. The staff here are efficient, quick, and courteous. Bagel Basket is a treat and should not be missed. We usually eat there or take away, but have never had a problem with delivery either. It is more expensive than most bagel places, but it's on the UWS and unlike many stores these days, it's still open. The higher prices reflect the quality of the food, the well-trained staff and the cleanliness, not to mention the rent they probably have to pay.

Incredible Quality
The bagels are always fresh, and the way a bagel should taste and chew. The egg salad with fried onions is to die for and the coffee is better than any Starbucks! Also try their pizza, soups and salads! Everything is fresh and made from scratch and the service is friendly and efficient.

disappointing, and do not get delivery
I am not the type to write reviews, but this was just such a terrible experience, i felt i needed to be heard. I called to get my brunch delivered. Not only was the woman on the phone rude, got my order completely wrong, and over charged me for 2 out of 3 items, the food was terrible. The bagels might be OK, but the pancakes were hard (overcooked) and tasted like cornmeal. The eggs were also overcooked AND they forgot the coffee that was supposed to come with my meal. Do yourself and favor and go somewhere else, this UWS spot is a dud in my opinion!

Worth the Dough
I saw some other reviews here and thought I'd give my 2 cents. I have been coming here for years and have seen the place grow. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Can the food be a little expensive? Yes. Can the line be uncomfortable sometimes? Yes. Do I wish the place had more tables? Yes. However no where else will you find the quality & freshness of food combined with old school owners who may be the last bastions of "work ethic" and "neighbrohood friendliness" than at this joint. I personally like their coffee and enjoy the normal cup sizes of small, medium & large, rather than "venti", "tall", & "grande" - what the hell do those mean anyway? I agree with a previous review that this is an UWS gem and though I do not remember a price increase at all, even if they did, the Bagel basket will forever have my business.

Just got better
My friends and I eat here a couple times a week. They just got in new items that are awesome - Frozen Yogurt which I didn't think I'd eat in winter but its really great. They also have these outrageous sweet french fries which hit the spot and of course regular fries too. They also do onion rings and because this place ALWAYS uses fresh products, even the fried goodies are as good as can be. Add their fresh salad bar and unbeatable bagels & spreads...I can;t believe one small place has all of this plus catering. Its the best!
