Stick to the Main Courses for a Good Time
Service at this restaurant is wonderful & friendly. My friend & i went for brunch & ordered a pitcher of the rose. The waitstaff refilled our drinks for us without us even noticing! They were considerate & attentive in other ways as well. As for the menu, both of our main courses were delicious. We ordered Fried Chicken & Waffles, as well as the French Toast. Delicious and simple, not very innovative but still tasted great. The biscuits are an absolute treat, but our other sides were just expensive disappointments. We ordered potato hash which was mushy, needed salt, & wasn't really flavored at all. We also had a side of bacon- the portion was TINY & the plate was very greasy, Oscar Meyer would have been better. All in all it was a great brunch, though its obvious the chefs put more efforts into the main dishes than their sides.

Always Great - best for Al fresco
Back Forty is excellent, especially in the spring/summer months when you can eat outside. The cocktails are amazing, I especially like to come here with a couple of friends and order a Black and Red (tequila, lemonade and strawberries - yes it should be in summertime- and an appetizer cheese plate. The atmosphere is cozy and young, something that can't be said for alot of places. The desserts are delish, everyone says the doughnuts are the way to go, but the stout float - porter ale, blackberry syrup and vanilla ice cream, gets my vote every time!

Worth the trip down to Avenue B
Walking down 12th street, I got to avenue B, and thought I must have had the wrong addressbut then I found Back Forty..an oasis in the middle of nowhere! I felt more like I was at a country restaurant in New England. Yes..it's a bit noisy, but the restaurant is divided into 3 smaller rooms, which gives it a cozy feeling. Very nice beer selection they even have pitchers!, and well priced. The wines are actually a glass and a half in a "quartino" for about $9. The menu is limited, but very interesting. We skipped the first course, I had the clams and corizo, which was good, but not great. My wife and daughter got the vegetarian baked pumpkin, which was really excellent. Shared the brownie with ice cream for dessertmore like chocolate cake. Service was excellent, and I enjoyed the vibe. Reminded me a bit of The Smithwhich is one of my "go to" places. Sam L.

Noisy
This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. The food selection is minimal we had the lamb chops and trout-edible but not worth the trip. The place was so loud I was picking up gray matter on my way out. If you're looking for ambience, you'd be better off at a Motley Crue concert.

Food doesn't deliver on build-up
Too bad the name "Fatburger" is already taken, because that would fit the greasy mess here. Prepare for something beyond "juicy" that will be a challenge to eat. The rest of the menu builds itself up and the food just doesn't deliver. If it was simpler and less expensive, that would work better. The service is nice and the setting casual, but the prices are up there, for food that isn't worth a second visit. Also had the chicken with romesco, which wasn't as good as Whole Foods take out and some mexican-style corn that was boiled, not grilled.

summer evening
The garden was lovely with its party lights. We had great cocktails and delicious salads - fresh bean, feta, tomato also tomato bacon greens, then the burgers, chicken with romesco (yay romesco)(you will not have better romesco in NYC) and side of fregola, a couscous-like pasta with marscapone cheese, corn and.... uuuuuuhhhh.. bacon on top. Delishiss. Make an effort to go on weekdays when they are not so busy crazy and you can linger over your drinks and enjoy the soundtrack.
