    Appaling

The poorest lamb shank in my life, ordinarily you'd have had to pay me to eat it, thickly charred, dry tough. Would have sent it back, but it was not diplomatic given the company I was with. The others all left most of their food. I can only assume it was the chef's night off and the dish-cleaner, or some such had taken over the cooking.

    Nice decor, food not memorable

I went there last night for my husband's birthday. The decor was nice - low lights, good music. The service was pretty good (they gave us a round of champagne for free since we were celebrating). We had the duck sprong rolls as an appetizer- good amount of meat but not enough flavor. My chicken special was ok and his lamd was very tender but underseasoned. Dessert (chocolate cake) was very good. We will go back and give it another chance

great food, but service and ambience questionable

Great food, but the service is "European" and the ambience on the patio is hit-or-miss. we went for dinner on a sat night and sat in the garden patio area. (1) service - true to its french roots, the staff are very friendly and helpful when they get to you, but will completely leave you alone if you don't flag anyone down. more than 30 minutes passed after our food was served before anyone came by to check on us. at another table, the staff seemed to know the guest well, brought them candles and stopped by their table about every 5 minutes. meanwhile, our wine glasses were empty and our romantic eve would have been lovely with a candle on our table as well. culturally different, we had to get up and walk to the bar to ask our server to stop by our table. (2) ambience - the patio has a ping-pong table. yes, a ping-pong table. not exactly a lovely complement to a romantic evening when people are playing ping-pong while you try to enjoy a glass of wine and conversation. once the ping-pong players left, my headache went away and was able to enjoy the meal. otherwise, the food was spectacular and the prices reasonable.

    Pinch Us

We were in Brooklyn, not the French countryside, right? This is the place! Totally undecided whether next trip will try another of the THREE! mussel items or move on to dinner. Look at their wine list. True "oldies but goodies" at great prices. House wines equally great. A true bistro that doesn't try to reach beyond what it is with typical NYC ostentation, (sorry) but lives up to every expectation superbly.

A Gem In the Heart of Boerum Hill

A great little French bistro with an excellent wine list, consistently great food (love the hanger steak, escargot, and foie gras, especially) and a totally relaxed atmosphere (which after a day's work is definitely a plus), whether you sit at a table or at the bar. The waitstaff is always friendly and attentive, and it's always fun to see the owner, Bruno, who is very hands-on, a quality that is lacking in many restaurants nowadays. The a la carte prices are more than reasonable, but if you want that great deal, try the prix fixe menu. Excellent all around!

    Miss the old Bacchus.

Bacchus used to be the best bistro in the area, but then the Bar Tabac folks got their hands on it. The menu now mimics Bar Tabac's almost exactly (higher prices, uninspired dishes) and the food quality took a major nose dive. While the old Bacchus was an authentic little gem, the new version is like a bad Eiffel Tower tourist trap. Such a shame - two Bar Tabacs is two too many.
