    Not too shabby

I'm not a vegan, I'm vegetarian, but I love finding delicious vegan desserts! This place is pretty good. I went there once last summer, and got the chocolate cupcake. I was a little bummed that it was cash only (if $25 or less), and they didn't seem concerned whether I bought one or not. Maybe because it was near closing time? The cupcake was pretty good, though. The cake part was a little crumbly, but overall I'd say it was tasty. And I know, being a veggie, that substitute ingredients are always more expensive, but for now I'll stick to my non-vegan options, mainly because I can get a cupcake twice as big for $2, rather than a tiny one for $3.25. But if I'm around the LES, I'll stop by!

the best brownies i've ever had

I ordered from here for my friend's birthday party. we got the regular brownies, cupcakes and cookies. the brownies were to DIE for. the cookies were good too. didn't try the cupcakes. we also got a lemon poppy loaf (OMG I cannot cannot cannot stop eating it) and chocolate macaroons which are disappearing at a furious pace. I ordered a few days in advance and whoever i talked to was very nice and offered her opinions when asked, etc. the delivery arrived well within the timeframe they said (4pm, timeframe was 3-5pm) and some of the items were still warm. YUMMMMM

    What Happened?

Was here a year ago on vacation and it was fabulous and we are not vegans! After much bragging I dragged friends and it was below marginal and the service was horrible, snobby, indifferent..... Won't be back.

    Tasty Delicious!

This stuff is really, really great. And I am a good vegan baker myself! I have had the little brownie cupcake with some frosting -- super delicious and yummy and oh so rich! I also had the double chocolate cookie -- thank goodness I only got one because I would not have been able to stop myself. I have also tried the carrot cupcake. Oh my gosh good -- just perfect! (Even my meat-eating and non-vegan friends loved everything they have tried from this place. They said "this Rocks!"). You have to check it out. Be prepared to take it to go – or eat it outside - or when they hand it to you – really tiny to sit…. And Ok – yes it may seem pricey – but they are in the start of hipsterville – and rents are expensive. Plus – all you vegans know how much more our “substitute” stuff costs as opposed to milk and butter and plain old flour and sugar…. And besides the prices aren’t too bad – really – and it is so delicious.

Hands Down, The Best Vegan Bakery EVER!

Oh my goodness! The delectable sweets at Babycakes are the most AMAZING vegan desserts I've ever tasted. Their cupcakes cannot be beat! I also love their brownies, banana chocolate chip loaf and as far as the Cinnamon Toastie... one word: FABULOUS! And I don't even like cinnamon! Everyone who works here is super professional. I was asked if I had any dietary restrictions upon ordering, and was met with a cheerful and helpful response as I placed my order. Keep up the wonderful work, Babycakes!!!

some of NYC's worst vegan desserts

Oh no...what babycakes serves is not food, is chemically tasting cardboard. I went there with 3 friends and we were all extremelly disappointed with the food. We tried the carrot cake, the red velvet cupcake, the vanilla gluten free cupcake and a scone. Oh my ...all of them tasted dry and unfresh. I am a vegan dessert lover and this place is defintively not a good example of how vegan desserts should taste like. Plus the service was poor, the place was cluttered and just take a look at the outrageous prices... I am never going there again.

    Oh Baby! (Cakes)

I love this place--I go here at least once a month and buy millions of goodies to satisfy my newfound sweet tooth. I don't even write reviews for places and here I am-I'm in love! Gluten free people can enjoy desert again thx to BC. One reviewer commented on an after taste--not my experience at all, but I hope she'll try their other delicious treats. And my non-celiac, non-vegan, sugar-eating, bleach-flour-using friends love it too.
