    Tasty food at Babbo

I was aware of the hype surrounding Babbo. After eating there, I must say that this place definitely lives up to it's reputation as some of the best food in New York. The ingredients are exceptionally fresh, and the food is unpretentiously creative. Each dish we ordered was culinary perfection. Even a dish as simple as whole roasted Branzino (with roasted Jerusalem artichokes and lemon oregano jelly) opens your eyes to how delicous a whole roasted fish can be. You've eaten it before but for some reason it hasn't tasted as good as the one you eat there. Portion sizes are perfect, especially if you are planning on sharing with other people at the table. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive but not in your way. Beautiful atmosphere, fantastic wine list, and excellent company, this was a perfect meal.

    Exotic and sexy!

I had fun trying some interesting items here after a full days work. My pick: 1) Testa--headcheese! 2) Calf's brain francobolli 3) Grilled octopus. The meat was delicious and I liked the decor--will go again!

    Big disappointment

Overrated. Tried their house specialties and did not meet the high expectation we had based on existing reviews. Does not deserve the title of the best Italian restaurant in NYC. Food was good but by far not as special as everyone makes it out to be. Nothing memorable about Babbo at all.

    Wonderfully... Perfect....

Upstairs is as close to culinary excellence as I have ever been. The wait staff perfect, knowledgeable and smart; The head waiter delightful and respectful; The freshest food, best presentation. Osso bucco better than in Rome. The vegetables were glorious. Never had a rushed feeling. The wine delicious. The wine glass prep classy. All in all the best meal I have ever had. Start dialing now to make a reservation and try to get upstairs - it is heavenly. ENJOY!

    Yum!

Delicious Italian food. One bad thing I did not like about this place was that the waiter encouraged us to order a pasta and a meat entree and an appetizer telling us the portions were small and they were NOT! They were full size portions and either the pasta or the meat entree would have been enough...not both! Other than that, the food is wonderful and we even saw Sarah Jessica and Matthew Broderick there that night!
