Where was the taste?
Went there for a birthday dinner on Saturday. While the waitstaff was quite attentive, I was disappointed in my food. I knew something was wrong when I kept reaching for the salt shaker. My whole dish had absolutely no taste what so ever. That was the general concensus around the table. Won't be going back here. Especially not for that money.

Good Food. Good Service.
I went here after a show the other night. I had the sea bass and pecan pie. They were both pretty good! Although, I must say my friend's fried chicken was better. Our waitress was pretty hot, too! Besides it being freezing cold in there, it was a good night. Might go back for cocktails soon.

Love, Love, Love the food!
Being a vegetarian, I was scared there wouldn't be anything for me to eat here. The Clay Pot was really yummy and such a big portion! My boyfriend, who is a true carnivore, is still raving about the ribs. I would have liked to hear some more upbeat music though, and it was a little dim at my table. Overall, we really had a good time and will return.

Excellent
I've been here twice and the food has been consistently delicious. The fried green tomatoes are to die for, and I just tried the Algiers salmon, which was perfectly cooked. My dining companions both enjoyed their entrees - the fried chicken and ribs - as well as the desserts. They had bread pudding and I had caramelized apples with ice cream and caramel sauce, and both were delicious. Not sure what the negative reviews are all about. Service was excellent and prompt.

Phenomenal Food?
We ended up at B. Smiths Resturant before phantom of the opera and it was phenomenal. Prefixe menu was soooooo good. I had the shrimp rolls, salad, banana leaf salmon and the bread pudding with the wine pair and my mom had the veggie dumpings, meatloaf, and mouse and it was so good i want it again. I would def recommend for anyone at anytime. about the salmon, even my mother liked it and she doenst like fish LOL

A mixed bag
We dined at B Smith's tonight - a party of four. We dined from the Prixe Fixe menu as it seemed a very good value at $32 per person. The meatloaf and chicken dishes were good - not spectacular, by any means. The appetizers, especially the black-eyed peas with greens were outrageously yummy. The bread pudding and chocolate mousse as finishers were delightful as well. However, the plantain-wrapped salmon was unappetizing - reminiscent of many plates of poor hotel salmon we've sampled in the past. The ambience was great - the food was average with a few standouts - and the service was marvelous. We won't be rushing back - but if you want an affordable, good, hearty meal before the theater - avoid the salmon - but try out their prixe fixe menu.

A nice friday night dinner
We went tonight (1/23/09) and had a great evening out. We shared the salad for an appetizer, I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the steak. The waiter told us that the beef was from upstate new york. We liked that he 1) knew where it was from, and 2) it was local beef. The steak and mashed potatoes was beautifully presented and my ravioli was heavy but good. This is NOT health food, but we weren't expecting that. For dessert we had the profiteroles which were okay. We each had $15 flight of wine with our courses which was a total bargain and I was a little tipsy by the time we left due to their generous servings. The wines were all good, too. This is a great place for a special date.
