Prices
The prices are exorbitant! Ten dollars for a vodka & sprite? At 4 p.m. on a weekday? Ha! Won't be going back, at least not for drinks.

Too expensive!
I guess you're paying for the ambiance. The food is good, but not great enough to warrant the price.

unpleasant experience.
i've gone here for brunch before, and it was fine. delicious in fact. i came here again today for dinner with 4 of my friends. the food was average. what really made me mad was when they made us wait FORTY-FIVE MINUTES for our check. it took 3 servers and the manager to finally get it to us and it was wrong! i went straight to the manager and spoke to him, he abruptly snatched the check from my hand went into a back room and handed me a new check that WAS STILL WRONG. incredible. no real apologies from any of the 4 people it took to get the check, didn't bother to comp anything at all. truly truly poor service.

Glorified Diner with Outrageous Prices
We were unsure whether to even go in. As we were deliberating in front of the menu , we kept noticing the good looking entering, one after the other. WHY? Truthfully, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't exceptional. If we $100 would have bought more than just side dishes, we probably wouldn't have been unhappy. We weren't really expecting much but what we got was glorified diner with outrageous prices. Admittedly, we weren't really paying attention to the prices when we were ordering. (People should never go grocery shopping hungry and this was the same thing). We ordered 12 oysters, which tasted fine. At $2.50 a piece, they were a bit above average for NY and slightly too chilled. I had the Arugula and Beet Salad with Chevre which arrived on a tiny plate looking like an insignificant side dish. It claimed to be an “Entree Salad” (the menu is divided into "Salads" and "Entree Salads"). Maybe if it had been served on a larger plate it could have earned its place in the “Entree Salad” category. My friend had the pumpkin soup and a side order of asparagus (which was almost larger than my Entree Salad). We didn't order much but the bill came to almost $100 after tax and tip. For that price, we could have almost gone to a "famous chef" restaurant.

only for brunch
went here for brunch, totally serviceable. food was decent for brunch, if not good. step-mom got a bowl of fruit which was totally overpriced for fruit, aside from that, prices were average. MUCH better than a whole lot of other places i've been to. our waitress was in training, but clearly eager. had to ask for refills of water and such. i'd go back.

Beauty is only facade-deep
This place has a FANTASTIC location and gorgeous decor. Hoever, the food is middling-to-meh, certainly not what one would expect for such astronomical prices. We've eaten here maybe 10-15 times over the last four years - mainly due to its one-block proximity to home - and have found nothing on the menu that is truly inspired, the pan-seared blackened tuna has been the only dish with any sort of consistency and it's indeed passable, but for the price it should really be much more delectable. Best way to enjoy this place is during the summer for drinks that someone else is paying for. One high point of late - they got in trouble for serving minor, and in order to keep their liquor license they've taken to asking for ID from EVERYONE, including my 65 year old boss - a happenstance which definitely made his day!

Ambience isn't everything
I've been to B bar a few times and it always gives me the same impression: if this place wasn't located in a great location, and didn't have such a large patio, no one would ever want to come here. The food is nothing great, something anyone could make at home. The drinks are average and too pricey for what they are. I have previously ordered a martini and was given a cheap vodka (not even Smirnoff) for $13! And a club soda (no alcohol) was $4. That's crazy... I'd only suggest going inside and walkig around a bit to enjoy the atmosphere before heading to one of the many better bars in the area.
